Bellator Fighters That Should Be in the UFC
Bellator FC and the UFC are the two MMA promotions that I follow.
Bellator has a dynamic stable of fighters from all different weight classes. Some of these fighters, if given the opportunity, could enter the UFC and make some noise much like the WEC fighters made when they finally arrived.
In the following slides you can see my picks, in no particular order, for Bellator fighters I would like to see fight in the UFC one day.
Eddie Alvarez
1 of 6Eddie Alvarez has long been one of my favourite Bellator fighters.
He's got fast and powerful hands as well as a dangerous submission game. He lost his lightweight belt to Michael Chandler, but rebounded strong by defeating Shinya Aoki by TKO in his last fight.
With his contract coming up with Bellator, seeing Alvarez make his UFC debut in the near future is a distinct possibility.
Michael Chandler
2 of 6The current Bellator lightweight champion, Michael Chandler, has been very impressive in his career thus far as his record stands at a perfect 10-0.
He submitted Eddie Alvarez in the fourth round to capture the lightweight title and more recently defeated Akihiro Gono via TKO 56 seconds into round one.
Rick Hawn
3 of 6Rick Hawn is my favourite Bellator fighter. A former Judo Olympian for the United States, Hawn has made huge strides in Bellator with an overall record of 14-1. He can hip toss his opponents easily and he also has dynamic striking.
For those of you who believe that judo doesn't work in MMA, watch highlights of Bellator 33 where Hawn is at his very best. Hawn recently defeated Brent Weedman to win the lightweight tournament which gives him a title shot against Michael Chandler later this year.
Eduardo Dantas
4 of 6Eduardo Dantas is the current Bellator bantamweight champion.
From scary submissions to great striking, including crazy flying knees, Dantas can do it all. In his last fight, he dethroned Zach Makovsky to win the bantamweight belt with a second round arm-triangle submission. He has tremendous upside and is young at only 23-years old.
Douglas Lima
5 of 6Douglas Lima started his Bellator career on a tear by winning his first three fights. Two of those wins came by way of knockout.
He recently lost a decision to welterweight champion Ben Askren. He has KO power with seven wins coming that way and excellent submissions with which he has finished 11 opponents. He trains with a great team at American Top Team and is also young at 24-years old.
Pat Curran
6 of 6Pat Curran is a featherweight monster. He is the current Bellator featherweight champion after his KO victory over Joe Warren.
He has knockout power and submissions to match with five wins coming each of those ways. He is athletic and a very exciting fighter who is only 24-years young.
He defends his title against Patricio Freire for the first time in August.
