Eden Hazard: Chelsea Would Be Dangerous If Star Commits to Blues
UPDATE 3:52 p.m. ET: And it's official. Eden Hazard tweeted the news himself late on Monday afternoon:
"I'm signing for the champion's league winner.

A week ago, Chelsea was mourning the departure of star Didier Drogba. Soon, the Blues faithful will have something—or rather, someone—brand new to think about.

As the three-way tug-of-war continues among Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea for the right to employ Eden Hazard, one thing is for sure: The reigning Champions League victors are about to get a lot more dangerous if things work out for them.
For weeks, speculation has run rampant about where the Lille star would end up after he confirmed he'd be leaving France for England. Now, after a couple of cryptic tweets, it seems a decision has been made—and the Blues seem to have come out on top.
First, Tottenham's Louis Saha got the speculation started when he tweeted this on Monday:
"Apparently on his way to Chelseafc. @hazardeden10
— louis saha (@louissaha08) May 28, 2012"
Of course, that got the rumor mill running full-steam, leading to several more tweets from Saha insisting that he's only guessing and that only Hazard and the clubs in question know where he's headed.
Shortly thereafter, though, Hazard himself took to Twitter to reveal some news of his own:
"good afternoon guys. i made up my mind. see you later. thanks
— Eden hazard (@hazardeden10) May 28, 2012"
Goal.com's Greg Stobart confirmed the report that Chelsea is Hazard's choice shortly thereafter, saying that Hazard made his decision over the weekend. An unnamed source told Stobart, "It's a done deal. Hazard has made his choice."
Why have the Blues emerged as the favorite for Hazard's services? They can meet his financial demands, for one, and they'll most likely allow him to start regularly, according to Stobart.
Now, fresh off their win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League, Chelsea just got that much more dangerous. After Drogba's departure, there were no worries that owner Roman Abramovich would fail to use the team's deep pockets to land a scoring threat, and it appears he's done just that.
Hazard tallied 20 goals for Lillie last season as well as 16 assists, proving his mettle not only as a goal-scoring threat but as a playmaker.
If this deal goes through, it's bad news for the rest of the Premier League. With Solomon Kalou, Fernando Torres and now Hazard, the Blues look like the team to beat once again.
