College Football Recruiting 2013: 10 Prospects That Could Choose to Stay Home

Edwin WeathersbyMay 24, 2012

When you develop into a national level recruit, that means you have national offers. Not only are the in-state local schools after you, not just regional power programs offer you, but programs all over the country want your services.

For this read, I'm going to give you 10 national caliber prospects that have offers from all over, but could choose to just stay home with their local or in-state school.

Let's fire this one up.

10. Demarcus Walker, DT

1 of 10

Walker is a DT prospect from Jacksonville that goes 6'4" and weighs almost 280 pounds. He has the skills to play end in a 3-4 scheme or traditional DT in a 40 front.

On the recruiting front, according to Scout.com, Walker has a ton of offers including one from USC. Yet, it appears that Alabama and Florida are his two major options.

Walker could choose to stay in the Sunshine State.

9. Kendall Beckwith, ATH

2 of 10

Beckwith is a Louisiana native and is a 6'3", 225-pounder that can play an array of positions. He's highly coveted but per Scout.com, he has Alabama and LSU as his top two schools.

He has 30 offers on the table from programs all over the country, and last year, the Tide and Tigers battled over top Louisiana prospect Landon Collins.

While 'Bama won that battle, Beckwith could indeed choose to stay on the Bayou.

8. Nico Falah, OT

3 of 10

At 6'5" and 270 pounds, Falah is a SoCal native that excels as a pass-blocking OT. He does a good job of shadowing rushers on the edges and moves his feet well.

Of course with him being from the Los Angeles-Orange County area, Scout.com has USC and UCLA both on his trail, with Oregon rounding out his top three.

Look for either the Trojans or Bruins to be a prime spot to land, come NSD.

7. Dorian Johnson, OT

4 of 10

Johnson is a big-time blocker from the keystone State that goes 6'6", 275 pounds. He's got great initial punch strength and can adjust quickly as a pass-protector.

According to 247Sports.com, Johnson's core four is Pitt, Penn State, Ohio State and West Virginia, with Pitt being the favorite.

If things change, it'll likely be because Penn State has pushed. Either way, look for Johnson to stay in Pennsylvania for college.

6. Matthew Thomas, OLB

5 of 10

Thomas plays at Miami-area powerhouse Booker T. Washington and gets it done as a 6'4", 211-pound OLB. He can fit as a 3-4 OLB or 4-3 DE/OLB.

247Sports.com appears to handicap the race as an Alabama, Miami and Florida State heat.

With him being at a school that likes to pipe players to The U, Coral Gables could likely be where Thomas plays college ball.

5. Robert Foster, WR

6 of 10

Perhaps the most explosive and sudden receiver prospect in the country, Foster is a 6'2", 190-pound pass-catcher from near the Pittsburgh area.

Alabama is a major player in the hunt, per 247Sports.com but so are Pitt and Penn State. If Foster heads to play at Pitt, he could be the top-rated WR to come to the Panther program since Jonathan Baldwin.

As far as Penn State goes, I like Foster more than Eugene Lewis.

4. Vernon Hargraves III, CB

7 of 10

Many programs will throw their hat in the Vernon Hargreaves III sweepstakes, but it's going to be tough to get him out of Florida.

His father coaches at USF, he's grown up in Tampa and the perk of playing with his dad and in front of everyone he's grown up with is a big obstacle for other programs to overcome.

I have doubts that they will.

3. Su'a Cravens, DB/ATH

8 of 10

Cravens is a 6'1", 200-pound ATH prospect that can play S or OLB in college. He's an incredible athlete and has natural football playing instincts.

He's boiled it down to a core four of USC, UCLA, Ohio State and Michigan and will announce on June 6, reported by Scout.com.

It's likely he announces for USC and stays at home.

2. Laremy Tunsil, OT

9 of 10

Tunsil is a 6'6", 295-pound OT prospect that oozes athleticism and agility. Once he gets coached up on technique and gets reps, the sky is the limit for him as an OL.

On the recruiting front, Scout.com reports that Tunsil has a top five of Georgia, Florida, Alabama, LSU and Oklahoma. USC and Ole Miss are also lurking too.

There's a solid chance that on NSD, Tunsil opts to sign with the Gators, the in-state school for him.

1. Antonio Conner, S

10 of 10

Conner hails from Mississippi powerhouse South Panola High School, and an unwritten rule here is if you play here, after you're done, you go to Ole Miss.

Alabama, Mississippi State and LSU may be hunting Conner, but it's highly doubtful he ends up anywhere other than Ole Miss.

He's easily the No. 1 player on this list that is likely to opt to stay home.
