WWE Over the Limit 2012: Loss to Brodus Clay Should Be End of the Miz's Burial
After yet another loss, this time to Brodus Clay at Over the Limit on Sunday night, The Miz's stock has reached rock bottom. It's time for his burial to end.
One year ago, The Miz was on top of the wrestling world. He had picked up a WrestleMania victory over John Cena and was a constant presence in the main-event scene. It looked like he was well on his way to becoming one of the company's top talents for years to come.
But then he joined up with R-Truth to form a tag team and everything has gone downhill from there. Once the conspiracy gimmick ran its course the team was disbanded and The Miz has never been able to regain singles momentum.

He's picked up countless losses over the past few months, sliding him down the ladder and making him look extremely weak in the process.
He was given a United States Championship match on the Extreme Rules pre-show, but lost to Santino Marella in quick fashion. It seemed like that was as bad as it could get for the former WWE champion.
It wasn't. Following another lackluster month leading up to Over the Limit, he was put into a battle royal to open the show, but was eliminated by Christian, who was making his return from injury.
Surprisingly, he still returned later in the show to take on the Funkasaurus. The loss, which basically amounted to another squash match for Clay, was the worst one yet for Miz considering Clay had mostly beaten up on jobbers to that point.
While losses are bad, not being on television is even worse. Just ask Zack Ryder. He had a short-lived push late last year and is now stuck wrestling on Superstars again, so it's a slippery slope. There have been a handful of weeks, including the last Raw, when Miz hasn't appeared at all.
Luckily, his run of bad booking will have to end soon as he's scheduled to start shooting The Marine 3: Homefront in June, according to WrestlingInc.com. That means his loss to Clay should hopefully mark the end of his marquee PPV losses.
Once he returns from shooting the movie, it will be time to push him. He's simply too talented, both on the mic and in the ring, to keep getting treated like a low-level star. There are only a few superstars more entertaining than him when given enough air time.
The lack of top heels should also help his cause. Daniel Bryan was shifted from SmackDown to Raw in order to do a storyline with CM Punk because there wasn't any other reliable options considering the Tensai gimmick hasn't gone over like the WWE hoped.
That provides a big boost to The Miz's chances of bouncing back quickly upon his return since he portrays the perfect heel. His snobbish attitude draws a massive crowd reaction, and that's the most important thing for somebody who spends a lot of time doing promos.
The Miz is down, but he's not out. His burial should be over and now it's only a matter of time before he rises back to the top where he belongs.
