Liverpool Transfer Rumors: Owners Would Be Foolish to Let Luis Suarez Walk
Liverpool's owners are looking to turn around a sinking financial situation, but they need to be careful that their actions don't lead to them losing Luis Suarez.
Financial situations don't often improve by losing your main attraction, and the dynamic goal scoring of Suarez definitely draws fans and interest to Liverpool. Yet, Fenway Sports Group—the owners of the club—may be going down a path that will cost them their star.
Mirror Football's Simon Mullock sheds some insight on the situation.

"Liverpool face the prospect of losing Luis Suarez and Martin Skrtel as the club’s American owners look to introduce a new economic reality to Anfield.
Fenway Sports Group believe that an extended period of austerity is the only way to balance the books following Liverpool’s failure to qualify for the Champions League for a third successive season.
"
If they put a freeze on spending, they have little hope of enticing Suarez, who will be looking for a new contract this summer, to re-sign.
Here's the deal: Yes, Liverpool is not finding success as they are currently constructed, but that doesn't mean they have to completely give up on what is working.
If they all of a sudden go to making drastic cost-cutting moves, this team is going to take a huge step back, and fans are going to be turned off.
They are talking about a five-year plan! This is going to kill their fan interest and consequently destroy their profits. For every dollar they save, they are going to lose a dollar in profit, and the savings they are seeking will remain elusive.
This does not mean they have to spend recklessly. It simply means they can't just universally cut spending. They need to spend their money wisely; focus on adding quality at a value, and make Suarez aware of their plans.
This is easier said than done, but in this scenario there is hope; it is a light at the end of the tunnel. The strategy hinted at above is just a long, dark tunnel heading in the wrong direction.
