Predicting Where Each Top 25 Uncommitted Recruit Would Sign If NSD Was Today
Imagine if all of a sudden, the NCAA moved National Signing Day for the 2013 class all the way up from February 6th to May 23rd.
Although recruits wouldn't be forced to sign tomorrow, technically, they still would want the signing day experience and decide on a school.
For this read, I'm going to give you the top 25 uncommitted recruits and tell where they would sign if signing day was indeed tomorrow.
25. Mackensie Alexander, CB
1 of 25Alexander is a confident cornerback prospect from Florida. He stands 5'11", 175 pounds and has great speed, savvy and athleticism.
He can excel in both man and zone coverages and even has some return value.
I think if he was forced to make a decision and signed with a school right now, Clemson would be the choice.
24. Kendall Beckwith, ATH
2 of 25Beckwith is a 6'3" 225-pounder from Louisiana who can play QB, RB, WR, LB or DE. He's a thickly built player with excellent versatility and athleticism to excel all over the field.
If he had to pick and sign with a school in a flash, I think Beckwith would just stay home and sign with LSU.
23. Eddie Vanderdoes, DT
3 of 25At 6'4" and over 290 pounds, Vanderdoes plays DL, and I think he fits best as an inside DT. He's very strong on his feet, can toss and throw blockers off him and make a mess vs. the run.
Vanderdoes has a ton of national offers, per Scout.com, but I think in this story's scenario, he'd pick Oregon right over Cal.
22. Leon McQuay, S
4 of 25McQuay is great in space, as the Florida native is a 6'1", 185-pound safety.
He can play CB or FS for a back end, but I think he fits best at FS. He's solid in reading routes, can get off the hashes quickly and has good hands.
If he was forced into it right now, my gut tells me Florida would get McQuay's faxed LOI.
21. Jordan Cunningham, WR
5 of 25Cunningham is a heady pass-catcher from Florida that goes 6'1", 175 pounds. I think he's going to be a great route-runner because he shows gliding athleticism that looks monotonous to corner backs.
I think Cunningham really values academics, and Stanford would be his choice if NSD was tomorrow.
20. Vonn Bell, DB
6 of 25Bell may be the most versatile back end defender in this class, as he can play boundary CB, SS, FS and rover for a secondary.
He stands 6'1", 190 pounds and has great play speed. What's also neat about Bell is that he has big-time hitting ability.
He has interest in a lot of schools right now, but I think Tennessee would be his pick if forced into it.
19. Darrell Daniels, WR
7 of 25Daniels is a big 6'3", 210-pound receiver from northern California.
He has an extra gear to go get the ball in flight and can out-muscle a DB for the ball by shielding them and using his strength.
Recruiting doesn't seem to faze Daniels too much, but if he had to sign tomorrow, I think he'd pick USC.
18. Priest Willis, S
8 of 25At 6'2", 190 pounds, Willis has a college frame now and just moves so well for a bigger DB.
He can hold his own against TEs in coverage and will attack the line of scrimmage to combat the run. Willis has the tools to develop into a complete safety in college.
Which is tough to call where that would be, as Willis is taking his time. Yet in an emergency situation like this scenario, I think UCLA would be his choice.
17. Laquon Treadwell, WR
9 of 25An Illinois native, Treadwell has good speed and release quickness. He stands 6'2", 190 pounds and does everything quickly.
He can get on top of a back end and use his length and leaping ability to go over a crowd and high point a ball for the reception.
A Midwestern guy, I think he'd be happy with signing with Michigan if NSD was tomorrow.
16. Dontre Wilson, RB
10 of 25A do-it-all type of RB from Texas, Wilson stands 5'10" and weighs in the 170-pound range. He has excellent foot quickness, agility and creativity with the ball.
You can view him as a third back if you want, but he has the speed, receiving ability and quickness to kill a defense.
I think he'd sign with Oregon if he was forced to make a choice right now.
15. Max Redfield, S
11 of 25Redfield is another DB in this talented group of back-end defenders in 2013 recruiting. He goes 6'2" and 195 pounds.
A California native, Redfield has excellent athleticism, range and speed. He's at his best being left to roam a deep third, reading a QB and jumping a passing lane to drive on the ball for a pick.
USC would be his pick if NSD was tomorrow.
14. Ryan Green, RB
12 of 25Green is a 5'11", 195-pounder who can get it done with a sheer explosive burst and speed.
It's like once he gets the ball, he hits the "turbo" button on a video game controller and he skates upfield. Green will break off a lot of long runs in college.
He'd go with Florida State in this story's scenario.
13. Jaylon Smith, LB
13 of 25Smith is a very athletic 6'3", 225-pound LB who can play in both a 3-4 and 4-3. He looks great in coverage, showing easy movement, agility and natural instincts to hang with TEs and RBs.
Purdue and Indiana are in the race, per Scout.com, but this is really a Notre Dame vs. Ohio State battle. My gut says he'd pick in the Irish in this story's outlook.
12. Stacy Coley, WR
14 of 25I don't think Coley has realized how good he really could become. The Florida prospect is a 6'1", 175-pounder with excellent speed, quickness, athleticism, agility and natural talent.
The sky is the limit for him, and he really could be the next Sammy Watkins.
Florida would get his LOI if it needed to be in by tomorrow.
11. Dorian Johnson, OT
15 of 25Johnson is a 6'6", 285-pound OT prospect from Pennsylvania. He has a hard, powerful punch in his initial set, showing heavy hands.
He fires out of his stance well vs. the run and has the size to lean on targets and move them. As a pass protector, he shows solid patience and adjust ability in space.
I'm going with Pitt to land him in an emergency scenario like this one.
10. Matthew Thomas, OLB
16 of 25Thomas is a 6'4", 210-pound OLB prospect who can also play with his hand in the dirt. He works well in pursuit going away from him, as he's great at chasing from the backside.
Thomas has good pass-rushing skills, which also help him as a blitzer. I think he'd sign with Miami and be fine with it if he had to make a choice tomorrow.
9. Montravius Adams, DT
17 of 25At one point, according to Scout.com, Clemson was the top choice for Adams.
Now it seems that LSU, Oregon, USC, Michigan State and TCU will get his five official visits.
But if he was really forced into a making a quick decision, I think Adams would head to Clemson, in this scenario that is.
8. Michael Hutchings, OLB
18 of 25Hutch is a 6'1", 210-pound OLB prospect from northern California. He could get moved to a rover/SS type of role in college.
In this scenario, this is a slam dunk in my eyes, as Hutchings would easily sign with USC and be happy with his decision.
7. Kendall Fuller, CB
19 of 25This is a tough one to call here, as Fuller recently called Michigan a "second home" in an interview with Scout.com.
However, he has family ties to the Virginia Tech program and I like Clemson's chances, too. Tough to call, but I think he'd follow the family line and head to Blacksburg.
6. Robert Foster, WR
20 of 25Based on 247Sports.com, the top three suitors for Foster are Alabama, Penn State and Pitt. If he was forced to make a decision and sign with a school tomorrow, I think Penn State would get Foster.
5. Antonio Conner, S
21 of 25I'd be shocked beyond belief if Conner didn't sign with Ole Miss in this scenario. It's a slam dunk in my eyes, based on this interview with Scout.com.
Heck, I'd be shocked if Conner didn't sign with Ole Miss next February.
4. Su'a Cravens, ATH
22 of 25Su'a Cravens has told Scout.com that his mom wants him to go to USC.
Well, if he was forced into making a choice right now, it would be tough to go against mom's wishes.
Cravens would be a Trojan if NSD was tomorrow.
3. Vernon Hargreaves III, CB
23 of 25Hargreaves has his father at South Florida, and the Bulls are a major player in this race. In this scenario, if forced into it, he'd stay right at home and go play for his dad's team.
2. Laremy Tunsil, OT
24 of 25Tunsil recently told Scout.com that he has a top five of Florida, Georgia, Alabama, LSU and Oklahoma.
If NSD was tomorrow, the Lakeland City, Fla. native would likely choose to stay at home and play for the Gators.
1. Robert Nkemdiche, DE
25 of 25The Nation's No. 1 overall prospect is considering Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Florida, Georgia and Clemson right now, according to Scout.com.
I think Clemson could land him, LSU is in it and Ole Miss has his brother on the team. However, if National Signing Day was tomorrow, Robert Nkemdiche would sign with Alabama.
