Heat vs. Pacers: Game 4 Highlights, Twitter Reaction and Analysis

Brian MaziqueMay 20, 2012

The Miami Heat's stars played like it in the second half. They scored 34 straight points from the second quarter to the third quarter. Especially big in this sequence was Dwyane Wade's revival. The Heat rode this sequence to a 101-93 victory in Game 4

After playing well beneath his ability for Game 3, and much of Game 4, Wade finally woke up in the third quarter. At that point the Heat took control of the game.

LeBron James was his normal awesome, underappreciated and nearly unstoppable self. He played a great all-around game and remained aggressive throughout. James' effort kept the team afloat while Wade was meeting with the Sandman.

Udonis Haslem really played well in the fourth quarter, knocking down several big jump shots. He had 14 points.

Can we please stop all the choke talk? Read this stat-line from James: 40 points, 17 rebounds and nine assists. If that doesn't do it, nothing will.

Here is a deeper look at the game, starting with the Twitter story.

Tweets of the Night

Noticing just how hard James was competing, Mike Wells of the Indianapolis Star tweeted:

"

LeBron's playing like he doesn't want to be the one people blame if they lose (Is that possible?)

— Mike Wells (@MikeWellsNBA) May 20, 2012"

NBA.com's David Aldridge tweets this in observance of the many exciting sequences from the Heat's two stars:

"

This is some great stuff from Wade and LeBron...

— David Aldridge (@daldridgetnt) May 20, 2012"

Chicago Bulls announcer Chuck Swirski foreshadowed a more confident Wade at his press conference:

"

Wade s swag returns in post game presser. Book it

— chuck swirsky (@swirsk054) May 20, 2012"

He earned it.

Must-See Highlight

James and Wade took this game over, and it is only right to feature them in this sequence. Watch this beautiful pass-and-slam:

Grades for Key Heat Players

LeBron James: A+

James played like an all-time great when his team needed him the most. Without him, the Heat would be down 3-1; it's just that simple.

Dwyane Wade: A

I took the plus off his grade because he was Rip Van Winkle in the first half, but he was an absolute beast in the second half. He and James together showed how dominant they can be when both are on their game.

Grades for Key Pacers Players

Roy Hibbert: C-

Hibbert had a decent game with 10 points and nine rebounds, but the Pacers need him to exploit the Heat's lack of inside presence. Today, he didn't do that.

Danny Granger: C+

Granger was solid in the first half, but he was not a major factor in the second half. The Pacers' leading scorer couldn't make the plays needed to stop the Heat's run.

Granger finished with 20 points and five rebounds.

Deciding Factor: LeBron and Wade Take Over

LeBron carried the first half, while Wade struggled mightily. In the third quarter, he caught fire, making 11 straight shots at one point.

In the second half, he and LeBron attacked the basket with a vengeance. They outscored the Pacers 28-16 in the third quarter.

Game MVP: James

Wade came on big-time in the second half. He finished with 32 points, but LeBron's near triple-double was classic. He finished with 40 points, 17 rebounds and nine assists.

What's Next?

In Game 5, the Heat will have an opportunity to take a commanding 3-2 lead at home. They will need another strong effort from James and Wade. At home, the role players are more apt to show up.
