WWE News: Big Update on Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H, Lesnar's TV Future

Drake OzMay 16, 2012

It wasn’t even seven weeks ago that Brock Lesnar returned to the WWE, but just like that, he’s already been off of TV for two weeks now.

This has made many fans wonder exactly what’s going on with Lesnar, but given that he only has a one-year contract that requires him to work a limited number of dates, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he will appear on TV only sporadically.

Even though he’s started a major feud with Triple H, his TV appearances are going to be infrequent because the WWE doesn’t want to use up all of his dates too quickly.

That, however, has put the WWE in quite the pickle, as the creative team has a tough task in trying to book Lesnar’s feud with Triple H well while also keeping Lesnar off of TV for the most part.

So, just how is the WWE going to do this? And what’s going on with Lesnar’s upcoming TV appearances and his feud with Triple H?

Let’s take a look.

"

We noted earlier this week that WWE officials were “in a panic” over the Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H storyline and were considering having the match take place at June’s No Way Out pay-per-view. In an update, they are considering it for No Way Out or July’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view. The match was originally planned for SummerSlam in August.

Moving the match up would extend the time between Lesnar appearances on WWE TV this year since it’s believed they only have him for around 24 dates this year with the rest of the dates being used next year for WrestleMania season. The main reason for keeping Lesnar out until the SummerSlam match was because they had already burned through five dates between WrestleMania and Extreme Rules.

"

The exact amount of dates that Lesnar still has available is unknown, but it seems like the WWE is forgetting about one major factor in this feud: Paul Heyman.

While Lesnar may not be able to appear on TV too often to promote this feud, one would think that Heyman will be around to do Lesnar’s talking for him, and being that he’s one of the best mic workers ever, I think he’ll be able to keep this feud going for a while, perhaps even all the way to SummerSlam.

The problem with doing that is that this feud will likely get stale by then, but on the flip side, the WWE likely doesn’t want to rush the feud by having it at No Way Out, either.

Thus, logic says that the perfect situation would be having it at Money in the Bank, which is the halfway mark between No Way Out and SummerSlam.

Personally, though, I don’t like that decision because moving Lesnar vs. Triple H to MITB seems to indicate that Lesnar might not wrestle at SummerSlam, and even if he did, that it would have to be yet another rushed feud against someone else.

Rushed feuds are a great way for me to lose interest in the WWE, and being that Lesnar vs. John Cena happened so quickly, I’m not sure I want to see Lesnar vs. Triple H and Lesnar’s next feud happen that quickly, too.

At the same time, all this lawsuit drama between Heyman, Lesnar and Triple H isn’t exactly riveting TV, and if that’s what the basis of this feud is going to be, it’s going to fail miserably.

If I had my way, I’d completely change the direction this feud is currently going in, tone back how much it’s promoted on TV each week, have Lesnar return after No Way Out (but before Money in the Bank) and then build to a match at SummerSlam that could give the PPV a must-see match..

That’s probably wishful thinking, though.
