Manchester United: Sir Alex Ferguson and Ryan Giggs Win Historic EPL Awards
It's been a week of disappointment for Manchester United after falling just short of another Premier League title, but Tuesday provided the Red Devils with a silver lining as manager Sir Alex Ferguson and midfielder Ryan Giggs were honored for their sustained EPL greatness.
Ferguson was named the top manager in league history, beating out fellow big-name coaches Arsene Wenger, David Moyes, Harry Redknapp and Jose Mourinho, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Giggs also beat out an impressive list of all-time greats to receive the honor of top player in the Premier League's storied history. Thierry Henry, who made a triumphant return to the EPL on loan this season, was one of the marquee names Giggs was able to overcome.

When fans think of Manchester United, Ferguson and Giggs are often the first two names that come to mind after all they've accomplished over the years. They are the cornerstones for a team that has become a league powerhouse during their watch.
Ferguson has led United to 12 league titles during his tenure, which began in 1986. When you consider the increased amount of pressure on managers in today's game, keeping one job for that long is an incredible feat by itself.
He's been able to ensure his team maintains a high level of play no matter how many stars walk out the door. This season was a perfect example. The Red Devils underwent a minor youth movement instead of spending huge in the transfer market, and still came within minutes of a title.
While the argument has always been made that a manager can only get as far as his players take him, it seems like Ferguson always raises the level of play from his squad to ensure strong results.
Giggs has been right alongside Ferguson for more than two decades. In an era where it seems like star players are changing teams more frequently than ever, the Welsh star has played his entire career with Manchester United.
During that time, he's made over 900 appearances and scored 163 goals. Even though his overall production has dipped in recent years as the mileage on his legs finally began to catch up with him, his leadership skills have allowed for a smooth transition to the next generation of stars.
It's impossible to measure the impact his steadying influence has had on United over the years, but it's safe to say the Red Devils will never have another player quite like him.
Giggs wouldn't have had his success without Ferguson and Ferguson wouldn't have had his success without Giggs. They are a perfect match, so it only makes sense that they were honored on the same day for decades of Premier League dominance.
