Pro Wrestling's Greatest Obscure, Unofficial and Rare T-Shirts

Ryan DilbertMay 15, 2012

Before you head to that next taping of Smackdown or the independent show near you, what wrestling T-shirt are you going to pull on?

Virtually every wrestling fan has the Austin 3:16 shirt or the original NWO shirt, and with good reason.  They're great designs.

Some fans may want a more unique piece of wrestling merchandise.

Want to have your fellow fans pat you on the back for your find, for them to get giddy upon seeing your attire?

These may be the obscure and awesome wrestling T-shirts you are looking for..

Giant Baba

1 of 13

Japan's answer to Andre the Giant is featured in this beautifully simple design.

The three-time NWA Champion and Hall of Famer isn't as boxy as this caricature suggests, but it's not far off.

The fat, black letters pop out against the white shirt.

Show your knowledge and appreciation of puroresu by strutting around with this on.

Available from kidsamurai.com, but remember to factor in shipping costs from Japan and the difference between Japanese and American sizes.

Rock, Paper, Scissors

2 of 13

How many wrestlers could be recognized with this minimal amount of detail?

The Rock's trademark bull tattoo and victory pose are all we have to work with.

A bold, simple design shines.

It's a one-note joke, but a beautiful one.  Now you'll have something to wear when your Boots to Asses and Brahma Bull shirts are dirty.

Available (for now) in the Barbershopwindow.com overstock bin.

Kick Your Face!

3 of 13

It's not immediately clear that this is a Toshiaki Kawada shirt.  There's no picture or Kawada logo to identify it.

Anyone familiar with Kawada's ring work will know that there's not a more fitting set of words to honor him with.

Kawada has made a career out of kicking faces.

The bright yellow text is striking against a black shirt and makes for a vivid design.

Its availability is unknown. I can't find this sucker for sale anywhere.

Ric Flair Is Forever

4 of 13

This is how fans want to remember Ric Flair—long locks, championship title around his waist and in great condition.

When Flair started using the "Diamonds are forever" line in his interviews, he had no idea how literal that statement would end up being.  Flair may end up wrestling in his '70s and '80s with TNA or whoever else lets him.

The sepia-washed classic photo of the Nature Boy is the centerpiece for a gorgeous T-shirt.

Available at highspots.com.

WWF Panda Wrestling

5 of 13

The World Wildlife Fund was worried that people searching for them on the web would be directed instead to the Undertaker delivering a Tombstone to Kane.

The two companies came to a settlement, forcing Vince McMahon's company to become known as WWE.

What if they'd come to different solution, somehow combining the two groups?

This shirt gives us a peek at what that would have looked like.

Available at several online outlets including studiotees.com.

I Broke Wahoo's Leg

6 of 13

Wahoo McDaniel's leg injury in 1977 became a major source of heat for Greg Valentine.

Valentine boasted about breaking the Chief's leg, even sporting this very shirt during interviews.

That moment is relived with this simple white text on black background design.

You'll able to tell a fan's dedication to the sport by noticing if this shirt twists their face into confusion or if they give you a high-five.

For now, this is available on the overstock bin on Barbershopwindow.com, but they make limited supplies of their shirts and it won't be sitting there forever.

Tiger Mask

7 of 13

Japanese anime character and legendary wrestler Tiger Mask is honored here with this handsome shirt.

A gray drawing of Tiger Mask is backed by a complementary cream color.

The placement of the graphic low on the shirt adds to its visual appeal.  The large kanji to Tiger's right is a nice touch as well.

This was once available at Rakuten Global Market, but is sold out there.

I would post a website that still has these, but you probably want them all to yourself.

Manami Toyota-G.O.A.T.

8 of 13

Manami Toyota is considered by many to be the greatest female wrestler of all time.

With all the accomplishments printed on the back of this shirt, it's an easy argument to make.

The ghostly red image of Toyota behind the text is striking and original.

The only drawback I can imagine is that people will probably lurk behind you trying to read about all the five-star matches and awards Toyota has compiled over the years.

Dirtydirtysheets made this shirt and needs to make more.

Jushin Liger

9 of 13

In a design reminiscent of the band Kiss, multiple versions of Jushin Liger's masks are pasted on this bright and vibrant design.

It does well in capturing Liger's energy.

Non-wrestling buffs may think you are sporting some kind of Power Rangers attire when you are in fact giving one of the greatest masked wrestlers his due.

This other cartoony shirt is fun as well.

Available on Toudoukan.com.

Hopefully your browser offers a translation option as the site is in Japanese.

Larry Sweeney

10 of 13

Independent and internet favorite, Larry Sweeney died much too soon.

The infectiously flamboyant and showman extraordinaire committed suicide at just 30 years old.

This perfectly fitting shirt pays tribute to the Sweet and Sour one.

Massive black text yells atop a purple background.  Sweeney's playfulness is shown off in the image stuffed into his own sunglasses.

Available in the overstock bin at Barbershopwindow.com.

Mutoh Bear

11 of 13

If you like Japanese wrestling and overpowering cuteness, there is a perfect shirt out there for you.

Keiji Mutoh (aka the Great Muta) is modeling a shirt featuring a cartoon bear version of him.

The bear is donning Mutoh's trademark ring wear and a championship belt.

This is a fun alternative when you're not feeling like putting on any of the skull and viper WWE shirts out there.

The Mutoh Bear shirt and toys are made by Asunaro, but you're probably better off trying Ebay for these.

Say Anything, Champ!

12 of 13

If you grew up in the''80s, you probably watched John Cusack in Say Anything a few times and you probably prefer this version of the WWF/WWE Championship.

Combining two seemingly distant concepts make for a perfect mashup.

Though the depiction of Cusack is a bit Microsoft Paint quality, it still looks great popping off the red.

If only they could capture the rain pouring down on his face as well.

This shirts comes to us from Barbershopwindow.com, but is all sold out.  You'll have to scour the internet or snag one off a lucky owner.

Vince Russo

13 of 13

Taking cues from the Stone Cold "Been There, Destroyed That" shirt, this hilarious jab at Vince Russo would be a welcome addition to any fan's collection.

Russo made a name for himself by writing for the WWE during the Attitude Era.

He then proceeded to soil that name by helping WCW to tank and deflating TNA's high hopes.

Unfortunately this isn't an actual shirt.  It's from a section on Wrestlingfan.com called "Burgan's Gimmick Table."

Someone with access needs to make this design a reality and print them like crazy.
