John Cena Divorce: WWE Superstar's Image Won't Be Tarnished by Failed Marriage
The WWE likes to portray John Cena as a squeaky-clean individual who is a perfect role model to children everywhere. With news that Cena has filed for divorce there may be some concern that his image has taken a hit, but the CeNation is sure to be as strong as ever.
According to Lesley Abravanel of the Miami Herald, Cena is set to divorce his high school sweetheart and wife of three years, Liz Huberdeau. Cena reportedly said that the marriage is "irretrievably broken." Abravanel is also reporting that Huberdeau has hired Miami-based attorney Raymond Rafool, who was able to secure 70 percent of Hulk Hogan's assets for Linda Hogan in her divorce case.

This certainly came as a bit of a surprise since there has never really been any discussion of Cena having a troubled home life, but wrestlers tend to keep those things private. The wrestling lifestyle had to be tough on both Cena and Huberdeau, as he wasn't able to be home very often and couldn't provide a normal relationship.
It's impossible to say what the circumstances behind the divorce are, but if Cena was the one who filed, then it's obvious that he wasn't happy with the way things were going. The first reaction for many regarding the news may have been that this will damage the way people look at Cena, but I can't see that being the case.
Unless news comes out that Cena was unfaithful or something of that nature, he shouldn't be considered any less of a person. It's a sad fact, but half of all marriages end in divorce in the United States, so every single marriage is a coin flip. Cena and Huberdeau unfortunately came out on the wrong end of the flip, but it doesn't mean that either of them are necessarily bad people.
Famed announcer Jerry "The King" Lawler has been divorced three times, but wrestling fans don't think any less of him, so Cena is ultimately going to be just fine. It's probably going to take some time for him to get past the divorce mentally, especially with there being a chance that he'll lose a good chunk of his assets, but aside from that there isn't much to worry about.
The diehard members of Cena's fanbase are children and women anyway, and those two groups won't be adversely affected by the divorce at all. The vast majority of children aren't going to have any idea about what's going on in Cena's personal life, and the fact that Cena is now single will only make him even more desirable to female fans.
Cena is still going to play to his fans, he's still going to do charity work and he's still going to do media appearances, so he'll be able to put this divorce behind him in no time. It isn't as if it's going to be mentioned on WWE programming or anything of that nature, so as long as it remains a personal matter, very few people are even going to care.
Obviously Cena's detractors are going to attempt to use this as ammo against him, but that's to be expected. Cena has never let critics get him down before, and I highly doubt that he's going to start now. It's pretty low to use somebody's personal struggles against him, but don't be surprised to see signs alluding to Cena's divorce—that is, if they aren't taken away first.
This is certainly a less-than-ideal situation for Cena and the WWE, but a few weeks from now nobody is even going to be thinking about this. Cena simply needs to keep doing what he has always done, and that is to continue being the face of the WWE.
