WWE Rumors: New Viral Marketing Campaign Will Keep WWE Interesting
The WWE certainly hasn't been shy about using the Internet as of late to promote its product and there is no reason to think that will be changing any time soon. In fact, the company has started a mysterious viral campaign on its website that should keep wrestling fans guessing throughout the summer.
According to WrestlingInc.com, the company has started the viral marketing campaign on WWE.com and it will be pushed more heavily on Monday, although it's unknown whether it will be used on WWE programming. This wouldn't be the company's first viral campaign, as it has done it a couple times in the past for Chris Jericho in particular.

Jericho's most recent return during the winter featured YouTube links being shown on Monday Night RAW so that fans could watch the vignettes on a weekly basis. This new campaign has the potential to captivate the WWE Universe even more, though, as nobody really has any true inkling of what it could be in reference to at this point.
Although you won't necessarily find the campaign if you seek it out on WWE.com, some people have found an advertisement for it, as well as a short video clip that airs before an actual video on the site.
The operating title of the campaign is apparently "A Revolution Is Coming." You can watch the video, which has been captured by a fan, here on Photobucket.
The video appears to show stock footage of citizen revolts and other such things that would suggest a revolution. One would think that the "revolution" is referring to a return of some sort, although it's really impossible to know for sure at this point. I haven't seen much speculation with regards to who it might be, so the WWE fans could be in for a real surprise.
Does this campaign mean that a major superstar like Batista, The Undertaker, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin or somebody else is about to make their return? Or does it mean that a new star like Dean Ambrose, Tyler Black or Kassius Ohno will burst on the scene?
Or perhaps it's just a new way of advertising for the WWE Network. It's truly impossible to tell at this point.
If the campaign is going to be kicked up a notch on Monday like the Wrestling Inc. report says, then hopefully we'll be able to piece the puzzle together a bit more in the coming days. At the same time, though, this mystery is quite nice because it is incredibly difficult for the WWE to keep anything a secret during the age of the Internet.
There are people constantly breaking down videos and trying to crack codes, so surprises are often ruined for the most part. That was the case with Jericho's most recent return in a lot of ways, as most had pretty much become convinced that he was the returning superstar who was being touted.
That, of course, ended up being the case.
You had better believe that people will attempt to do the same with this marketing campaign. While there is no indication of how long it might go on, it could be something that consumes the WWE Universe all summer. Whatever the case, the campaign has barely even started and the company has people interested, so it figures to be a rousing success.
With WrestleMania in the rear-view mirror, there was some worry that the product would go stale, but after a great Extreme Rules pay-per-view and with this campaign on the horizon, the WWE product should be very interesting moving forward.
