Joe Vitt: Saints Must Fire Vitt to Move Past Scandal, Not Embrace Him as Coach
The New Orleans Saints need to take their just punishment and move past this entire bounty scandal, not have their coach continue to drag it out.
Unfortunately, that's precisely what interim head coach Joe Vitt is doing.
With Vitt's recent statements denying the pay-for-punishment system in New Orleans, the Saints need to find a different head coach.

His comments come after Sean Payton apologized for the recognized bounty program that was in place. Contradiction within the organization is the last thing Saints want right now.
Vitt is also denying that he ever told Anthony Hargrove to lie about the existence of the bounty program or to "play dumb" when accusations were made.
While I don't blame Vitt for attempting to stand up for himself, it's too late.
The decision on the punishment has been made, and many people have admitted to the Saints' bounty.
Just when everything seemed to be simmering down with this terrible public relations nightmare, Vitt kick-started more controversy.
Does New Orleans want the bounty program to cast an ominous cloud over the entire 2012 season?
They'll already play with the distraction of what took place and the league's penalties.
When team or organizations experience a major scandal, what typically happens? They fire the coach or individual in charge to "start fresh" and work on repairing their image.
When Vitt returns from his suspension as the head coach, there's a good chance he'll conjure up talk of the bounty program once again, at a time when the story has cooled off.
This one's easy—Vitt needs to be gone.
