Iman Shumpert Injury: Updates on Knicks Guard's Knee Injury
If the Knicks are going to have any hope of defeating the Heat this postseason, they're going to need all hands on deck. And unfortunately, due to what appeared to be a devastating knee injury sustained during Game 1 on Saturday, New York might not have Iman Shumpert for a while.
Update: Wednesday, May 2nd, 2:05 p.m. ET
We already knew that Iman Suhmpert had a long way to go, but now we know approximately how long that will be.
Al Iannazzone reports Shumpert will be out for quite some time.
"Shumpert had surgery today. Out 6-8 months.

What was initially feared, has turned out to be a reality. Shumpert has torn his ACL. At least according to the reliable Adrian Wojnarowksi of Yahoo Sports.
"New York's Iman Shumpert has suffered a torn ACL in his left knee, league source tells Y! Sports.

Yahoo! Sports' Marc J. Spears tweeted on Saturday:
"Shumpert just fell down untouched with what appears to be a knee injury. Doesn't look good.

With just over six minutes left in the third quarter of the game, Shumpert went down after moving slightly to his left and then going back to the right. He let the ball go as he grabbed for his knee and writhed don the court in apparently agonizing pain. He would not return to the game.
Instead, he was taken to a local hospital for tests, according to ESPNNewYork.com's Jared Zwerling. A spokesperson for Shumpert told Zwerling that the injury "doesn't look good."
The Knicks have yet to offer any official confirmation about the extent of the injury, but judging by the way Shumpert was grabbing his knee, crying and grimacing while he was lifted off the ground by team trainers, it looks bad.
The Knicks selected Shumpert with the 17th overall pick in the NBA draft last year. He's made 35 starts for New York this season and has averaged 9.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.
