WWE News: Ratings and Viewership from Every Single Segment on Raw
On Monday night, WWE presented a three-hour Supershow. It was the last Raw before Sunday's Extreme Rules, and everybody was expecting a great show.
WWE ended up delivering a solid show. As mentioned in the report, Raw drew a 3.06 rating for all three hours but earned a good 3.3 rating in its usual two-hour time slot.
Some believe the current television ratings system is flawed. While I won't argue that very much, it is a great indicator of fan interest. Right or wrong, this is the current format being used.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Here is the viewership of each segment, along with my thoughts:
Opening Segment with Edge and John Cena Drew a 2.50 Rating
Once again, the extra hour starts low. I understand WWE does a poor job announcing the special start times, but that is just ridiculous. Fans are busy at this hour or just have bad memories.
Either way, the segment was great. Edge made a surprise return, while viewers tuning in expecting a contract signing between John Cena and Brock Lesnar had to keep waiting.
Chris Jericho vs. Kofi Kingston Lost 73,000 Viewers
This is not surprising. A lot of people simply watch the beginning, middle and end of WWE shows. Decreases immediately after the top of each hour happen every single week.
Jericho's promo, Lesnar's promo and Eve with Laurinaitis backstage gained 52,000 viewers
For some reason, fans wanted to hear Jericho's promo after his win. Putting up a Brock Lesnar video likely kept viewers tuned in, while Eve is always a nice sight to see Monday nights. Of course, Mr. Excitement is also a great character!
Lord Tensai vs. R-Truth Lost 3,000 Viewers
I would actually consider this a mild success. People know Tensai will crush his opponent, thus you'd expect a huge drop. The fact that most viewers stuck around and sat through this may be good news.
Kane, Randy Orton and Paul Bearer's Segment Gained 865,000 Viewers
This was the original start time of Raw. Thus, all of those viewers were simply turning on the station at its usual beginning. That is why the segment had such a huge increase.
Otherwise, this was a nice segment. They are all well known names, and their feud hasn't been much at this point. Adding in Bearer was a fun little surprise for fans.
Alberto Del Rio/Cody Rhodes vs. Great Khali/Big Show Gained 195,000 Viewers
That is great news! Most of the time this quarter hour sees a big decrease. Something about this segment kept viewers watching. Either way, it was a short tag team match that was pretty good.
Jericho, Eve, Teddy and Laurinaitis Talking about Punk Drinking lost 112,000 viewers
This was a backstage segment that did nothing for me. It was always going to be a great "reveal" of CM Punk being sober, but it took way too long.
Nikki Bella Defeating Beth Phoenix for the Diva's Title Gained 437,000 Viewers
Yes, that is the correct number! Viewers like to see the women wrestle. More often than not, they perform well in the ratings. Some will continue to make jokes about them being the "bathroom break" of the night, but numbers don't lie.
This is one of the many examples where the Internet fanbase just isn't the majority of the WWE Universe. It is said time and time again, but folks just never fully accept it.
Nikki winning the title was a huge moment that a lot of folks at home saw, and next week may be even bigger! I will let you debate that one...
The Field Sobriety Test with CM Punk Gained 270,000 Viewers for a 3.63 Rating
The special start time of Raw began with a weak 2.50 rating. Two hours later, WWE was up to a 3.63 rating with well over an extra million viewers watching. That is excellent growth throughout the night.
I liked this segment. It dragged on, Punk messed up a line or two and nothing was really accomplished. However, it was a fun 10 minutes, and Sunday should be even better.
Sheamus vs. Mark Henry and Ryder/Santino vs. Primo/Epico Lost 439,000 Viewers
This was expected. Raw was due for a drop in the ratings, and this was where viewers may have started tuning out and grew tired of an extended three-hour Raw.
In no surprise, Zack Ryder is once again in a low-rated segment. Also, it is no surprise that these two matches meant nothing, and viewers knew it. The countdown to the contract signing was on...
Kane Finding Bearer and Abraham Washington Recruiting Backstage Lost 370,000 Viewers
In a matter of 30 minutes, over 800,000 viewers were gone. Again, it was a filler segment, so that shouldn't be a shock to anybody. Each part was fun but had no real interest.
Brodus Clay/Hornswoggle vs. Ziggler/Swagger Gained 225,000 Viewers
Chalk one up for the Funky Crew! I guess Taco Bell is going to be excited for this increase in viewership here. This was a fun tag team match, and many established names were involved.
Brock Lesnar and John Cena Closing Segment Gained 873,000 Viewers for a 3.83 Rating
The show began with a 2.50 rating, built up to a 3.63 rating and closed with a 3.83 rating. Once again, that has to be encouraging to hear for WWE. Went up, up and up all night!
The next time anybody says anything negative about Lesnar or Cena, show them this number. Then watch their excuses and complaints slowly become irrelevant...
These two are the top men in this business, and nothing is changing. Fans cared about seeing them go face to face all night, and they got their wish to close Raw. Job well done!
In the end, what does this mean for Extreme Rules this Sunday?
Well, there is certainly interest in Brock Lesnar taking on John Cena. Yes, the match was probably rushed. Yes, the feud has been hit or miss. Yes, some are skeptical of their abilities.
None of that matters. John Cena and Brock Lesnar are the main event this Sunday, and Raw numbers show major intrigue. I expect an amazing show Sunday, and you know I will be purchasing the event.
Will you?
