Why Wrestling Fans Are The Most Impatient Fans Ever!
Over the past month, I have been claiming that Christian Cage would be at the Royal Rumble. Many sites had talked about this development, including many insiders. In fact, I write for another site that claimed it would happen before I brought it here.
I would never have addressed it if I knew it was just a rumor going around and would never happen. I write about rumors to see how wrestling fans will respond to them along with giving my personal opinion on the subject, but also like to write about things that actually have a chance of happening.

So I was wrong. Cage was not at the Rumble or even backstage. In fact, he was not even in the state the show was in, Michigan.
When you write about news in football or basketball about a coach potentially taking a new job, it is believed as a real possibility.
Fans of that organization may get impatient, but they know something will happen in the end. Wrestling fans can't see that. Once something does not go exactly to plan, the people who wrote about it are no longer credible.
Writers become outcasts for being wrong about a "possible" storyline. Like this storyline with Christian Cage. He has signed with the WWE as of a week and a half ago. He was supposed to be at the Royal Rumble PPV.
However he wasn't. And why? Well no one can say.
It might be that the WWE does things at the last minute. Vince McMahon has been known to change things just hours before a show.
He did it with Mike Adamle when he resigned as Raw GM. Adamle came into the arena and found out that night just a few hours before the show. Creative actually had other plans for Adamle.
But he had no idea he was being removed as Raw GM. The emotion you saw from Adamle was real. He was completely blind-sided. So how would the wrestling writer be able to write about something if it isn't talked about until the last minute?
It is flat out impossible. Insiders can't get the word out fast enough, and writers can't get it published before it happens. It is a big mess sometimes.
Rumors have been correct most of the time in wrestling, but in the case of big storylines that heavily impact the company, things change repeatedly. It is hard to keep up, especially if the storyline is discussed right before showtime.
So blaming or condemning the writer for being wrong on something is kind of harsh, because he can't the word out fast enough.
I bet the reason why the WWE changed the Cage return date was because of places like B/R. They knew that word got out about Cage's return and their surprise was going to be ruined because of it.
So why not surprise us at the last minute and change everything? Keep people guessing. This is what the WWE thought, and who can blame them.
Wouldn't you do the same thing?
