Frenz of the Family: Must-Reads Around the AFC East, April 24 Edition

Erik FrenzJun 7, 2018

We are just days away from the 2012 NFL Draft, and the news cycle is spinning pretty fast. So let's take a quick spin around the AFC East to get caught up on the biggest stories and best analysis.

New York Jets

Recent reports indicate that Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis could hold out for more money. This would be the second time in three years he's done so after receiving what Rich Cimini of ESPN New York labeled a "Band-Aid contract."

The draft rumors, meanwhile, are at full tilt, and Alabama running back Trent Richardson has been connected to the team. B/R featured columnist Michael Moraitis, however, thinks the Jets would be wise to avoid pulling the trigger to move up for Richardson.

Jeff Capellini of CBS New York writes that the Jets should get aggressive, but instead of Richardson, he thinks they should go after South Carolina linebacker Melvin Ingram or Alabama linebacker Courtney Upshaw.

Greg Bedard of the Boston Globe talked about the Patriots' draft needs. According to Bedard, Kendall Reyes and Devon Still would be good fits at No. 27. They could also trade down, dangling Brandon Weeden as the carrot.

We spend so long fawning over dream picks, but not long enough talking about the nightmare picks. Leave it to negative Nancy Doug Kyed of NEPatriotsDraft.com to give us his thoughts on some worst-case scenario picks for the Patriots.

Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News has words with Bills scout Doug Majeski, and the two talked about potential Bills prospects Luke Kuechly, linebacker out of Boston College and Ohio State offensive tackle Mike Adams.

But there's one position drawing more attention by the day: wide receiver. The Bills have already had Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon in for a private workout, and now B/R featured columnist Ben Leibowicz writes that the team should be targeting him with the No. 10 pick.

There were conflicting reports about Dolphins owner Stephen Ross and his desire for the team to draft Ryan Tannehill. Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post brings up an interesting point: If Ross were truly demanding that general manager Jeff Ireland draft Tannehill, why wasn't he more demanding on guys like Matt Flynn and Tim Tebow, who would have brought even more buzz to the team?

Marc Sessler of NFL.com writes that while Ireland may think he has control, those in the organization are mindful and fearful that Ross' role in football decisions is increasing. Pump the brakes, Ross, you're no talent scout.
