Tim McTiernanJun 7, 2018

On the preliminary Facebook card of UFC 145 in Atlanta, Georgia, Chris Clements faced off against Keith Wisniewski in the welterweight division. Clements pulled off the split-decision victory, and it certainly was an entertaining fight. We saw everything from spinning back kicks to submission attempts, and it could have gone to any man at any moment.

Here's what we learned from the bout.

What We'll Remember About This Fight

All the spinning kicks and strikes that were thrown by Clements. He was able to hurt Wisniewski with a spinning back kick to the liver. He threw that kick multiple times. He also threw wheel kicks, spinning back kicks and more spinning back kicks. We'll also remember the terrible stand up by Fernando Yamasaki.

What We Learned About Chris Clements

He has a very diversified striking attack. As mentioned above, he threw all of those spinning strikes, and he mixed it up incredibly well to the head, body and legs of Wisniewski. This was Clements's first UFC fight and also his first win by decision. All 10 of his wins before that had been by KO or TKO. Clements could potentially make some noise in the division.

What We Learned About Keith Wisniewski

He has good grappling and can seriously take a shot. He was hurt by a spinning back kick, and as Clements went in looking to ground and pound for a possible finish, Wisniewski was able to throw up an unsuccessful attempt at a triangle. He was also able to take the back and lock in a body triangle on Clements.

What's Next for Clements

Someone like John Maguire (18-3 MMA, 2-0 UFC) or Claude Patrick (14-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) would make sense.

What's next for Wisniewski

He's 0-3 in the UFC now, but if he gets kept around, he could face off against Papy Abedi (8-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC) or David Mitchell (11-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC), and it could be a loser-leaves-town type of fight.
