2012 NFL Free Agency: Saints Extend Cornerback Jabari Greer
After losing cornerback Tracy Porter to the Denver Broncos via free agency, the New Orleans Saints have made sure they won't be losing another coveted member of their secondary any time soon, agreeing to a three-year contract extension with cornerback Jabari Greer.
The 30-year old was originally signed by Buffalo as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee in 2004 and spent the first five seasons of his pro career with the Bills.
He was signed by New Orleans during the 2009 offseason and became an immediate starter, contributing 44 tackles during nine regular season games and picking off two passes during the Saints' Super Bowl season.

He had his most productive season as a tackler in 2011, totaling 71 stops and adding an interception.
The Jackson, Mississippi native was due to make $5.4 million in base salary for 2012 under his current deal, although the new deal could be worth over $23 million.
Despite an abundance of turmoil from the infamous Bountygate scandal, the Saints have remained active throughout the offseason, inking notable free agents including defensive tackle Broderick Bunkley, linebacker Curtis Lofton, linebacker Chris Chamberlain, guard Ben Grubbs, retaining receiver Marques Colston and placing the franchise tag on quarterback Drew Brees.
It is not clear if Greer was one of the 22-to-27 defensive players involved with the bounty program orchestrated by former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, and punishments from the program remain undetermined at this time.
