Vin Scully: Legendary Dodgers Broadcaster Will Miss Historic Opener with Cold
Dodger Stadium will open for business on Tuesday afternoon, and the best in the business will not be among the masses celebrating a special day. Vin Scully is home with a cold, and now I feel sick.
The official Twitter feed of the LA Dodgers reports that, in fact, there will be a huge hole left in the press box to start the season at home:
"Get well soon Vin! Legendary Hall of Fame announcer Vin Scully is resting at home w/ a bad cold and will miss Opening Day at Dodger Stadium.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
There is nothing like Opening Day, a sentiment shared by every baseball fan. For this Dodgers freak, I crave the simple words with the special inflection, "It's time for Dodger baseball."
You can't take anything for granted, and that is why I savor every last call that Vin Scully delivers, knowing that retirement could be around the corner.
We need our Scully, and we need it now. That is why I am hoping that he is chugging a special concoction of chicken soup and cough lozenges and gets back to the booth tomorrow.
This is a great time to be an Angeleno, because the season is young and anything is possible. There is really nothing that can ruin Opening Day, except for our friend having to skip it because of the sniffles.
Every last Angeleno has their thoughts on various Dodgers players. My father may like Adam Kennedy far more than I care to admit, and I may value Dee Gordon far more than he should be at this point in his career, but there is one man that will never stir a debate.
From birth, you love Vin Scully, and he is as much a piece of Dodgers history as Jackie Robinson, Tommy Lasorda or the beat-up LA hat we all have in our rooms.
With pure selfishness in my heart and the need to have my ears percolated with the color of stories only he can deliver, I state:
Get well, Vin Scully.
