Tiger Woods: Sunday Won't Bring Different Results for Struggling Star at Masters
Tiger Woods struggled Thursday, he struggled Friday and he struggled Saturday. What makes you think it will change on Sunday?
Nothing.
Woods' struggles to hit fairways will continue, forcing Tiger to shoot even or above par for the fourth consecutive day.
I thought Tiger was back and ready for another major championship prior to Thursday. I didn't think he would win, but I thought that maybe he could contend on the final day.
Instead, he needs to have a ridiculous day of his his own coupled by several colossal collapses by his fellow golfers to be anywhere near the top of the leaderboard.
Won't happen.
Woods will be more aggressive on Sunday in an attempt to be at least hovering around par by tournament's end. This will cause Woods to take a risk or two, which will either give him a boost of confidence or send him down the leaderboard further.
Judging by how he has played the first three rounds of the 2012 Masters, I don't see him shooting three- or four-under in the final day. He hasn't given me a reason to believe he will.
He can hit as many balls he wants at the driving range after his round is over, but it still won't change anything this weekend. His confidence, for some reason, is gone with his tee shot. Woods is consistently putting himself in awkward positions where is has to hit above-average shots just to be on the green for pars.
Then, once he's on the green, he is asking his putter to save the day—not exactly his strong suit.
Golf is much better when Woods is in contention. It's going to be sad not seeing him later in the day, but he has nobody but himself to blame.
Sunday won't be different for Tiger; his struggles will continue.
