EPL Week 32: Predictions and Hot-to-Trot Tips for Every Game This Week

Dan TalintyreJun 5, 2018

Week 32 of the English Premier League is rapidly approaching. After the mid-week Champions League drama, it's time to focus on the premiership race, which seems to simply get more enthralling with every passing week.

Manchester United have now skipped five points clear at the top of the table, with City in desperate need of a win to put the pressure back on the Red Devils. They won't be helped by a difficult away match to the Gunners, who are in a race of their own for Champions League positions.

At the other end of the table, four teams sit within one point of each other, with two of them bound to fall into the relegation zone at the end of the year.

Every match from here on in is huge, and Week 32 is no exception.

Whether you're a diehard supporter, a casual observer or just someone out to make some easy money, here are your hot-to-trot, money-making tips that are sure to make this week's games even more enjoyable—not only on the field, but off of it as well.

Swansea City vs. Newcastle United

1 of 11

Swansea at home are a far stronger side than they are away, averaging more goals and only conceding half the total goals they do on the road. Nearly half of their home matches have finished with clean sheets, with a high majority of those goals coming in the second half. As a result, 73 percent of their home matches have finished under 2.5 goals.

Newcastle, on the other hand, enters this one with three straight wins with the likes of Cisse and Ba returning to the form they showed earlier in the year. Away from home, Newcastle concedes twice as many goals, but are still averaging a clean sheet in around a quarter of these matches. They too concede the high majority of their goals in the second half, so a quiet first half may be on the cards.

Hot-to-trot tips:

Under 2.5 goals for the match

0-0 as half-time result

Second half as the highest scoring half

Sunderland vs. Tottenham Hotspur

2 of 11

Sunderland have been one of the toughest sides to beat at home all year, conceding less than a goal per game and losing only once there since Christmas. Their attack showed great promise last week, and combined with a defense that's chalked up clean sheets in 40 percent of their home matches, look tough to beat.

Tottenham are struggling lately—there's no hiding that—and with their terrible road record, we're keen to oppose them here. Spurs haven't won a game on the road in 2012 and are averaging significantly less than the 2.12 goals they score per game at home. They will bounce back to form soon, but away to Sunderland is not the match in which it'll happen.

Hot-to-trot tips:

Sunderland to win

Second half as the highest scoring half

Bolton vs. Fulham

3 of 11

Bolton for the first time in a long time, are out of relegation. They've now won three in a row and have only lost one of their past six home matches. And whilst they are still coming in 16th, we're getting on the train for this one. Bolton don't have the worst half-time record in the league, and in front of their home fans for the third time in four weeks, could snatch an early goal.

Fulham seem to be in a strong patch also, after narrowly going down to United at home before taking all three points at home to Norwich last week, but their away form has been a problem all year. The Cottagers have only won twice on the road all year, and are averaging just one goal in every two games. Their defense does tighten up as a result, but it may not be enough to stop an in-form Wanderers side.

Hot-to-trot tips:

Bolton to lead at halftime

Under 2.5 goals for the match

Chelsea vs. Wigan Athletic

4 of 11

Chelsea will be buoyed from their Champions League result mid-week after progressing through to the semifinals of the prestigious tournament. They'll be looking to put out a strong performance for the home fans whom they haven't lost in front of since December. Their past nine goals have come from seven different goal-scorers, who average more than two goals per game at Stamford Bridge.

Wigan are a far different story, and despite moving off the bottom of the ladder, still find themselves deep in relegation trouble. They may have only lost once since January, but against Chelsea at home is a far different task to anything they faced in that time. Wigan are conceding two goals per game on the road with 75 percent of those matches going over the 2.5 goal mark also.

Hot-to-trot tips:

Chelsea to win by 2-plus goals

Over 2.5 goals for the match

Liverpool vs. Aston Villa

5 of 11

Liverpool, it's fair to say, are in the middle of a form slump. They've managed just four points from their last eight matches and are in desperate need of a win. At home, the Reds are allowing just 0.8 goals per game, but they're also only scoring 1.16 goals per game for the season—showcasing both their offensive struggles and their defensive strength.

Aston Villa also come into this one with a single win in their past eight matches, with little away form to stir up any confidence. Averaging just over one goal per game, Aston Villa have won just three times on the road this year with over a third of their goals conceded coming in the opening 30 minutes. They've only led at halftime once in the past four months and will struggle to run down Liverpool at home.

Hot-to-trot tips:

Liverpool HT Result / Liverpool FT Result

First goal to come in 0-30 minutes

Norwich City vs. Everton

6 of 11

Norwich at home are conceding just 1.26 goals per game and as a result, have recorded just four losses all season in front of their faithful fans. They'll no doubt be strong early, but expect the game to open up in the second half as Norwich have shown throughout the year, with nearly 60 percent of their goals for and against coming in the second half.

Everton go into this match as favorites, but with little away form to show for that. Averaging just one goal per game, nearly 75 percent of Everton's away matches have gone under 2.5 goals, with 61 percent of their match goals occurring also in the second half.

Hot-to-trot tips:

Under 3.5 goals for the match

Second half as the highest scoring half

West Bromwich Albion vs. Blackburn

7 of 11

West Brom have defied all Premier League logic this season—winning more matches away from home than at home. In fact, they've chalked up just 14 points at home compared to 22 points away. Away from home, West Brom feature in higher-scoring matches and haven't put up a clean sheet since September. Yet at home, they tighten up at both ends, with a third of their matches featuring either a clean sheet or West Brom failing to score.

Blackburn were in it for most of the match before falling late to United at Old Trafford and should take great heart from that match. Blackburn have the tendency to concede a high number of goals on the road, but against a West Brom attack that's only scored 36 goals this season, that shouldn't happen here. Expect a low-scoring affair where both sides try to sneak goals on the run.

Hot-to-trot tips:

Match to finish as a draw

Under 2.5 goals for the match

Stoke City vs. Wolverhampton

8 of 11

Stoke haven't won in their past four matches and will be desperate to get back on the winners list when they take on Wolves at the Stadium of Light—one of the toughest places to travel to. Stoke have conceded just 15 goals there this season; chalking up clean sheets in 40 percent of their home matches.

Wolves—season over. It's as simple as that because they're not escaping the relegation zone; they're simply playing for pride now. They've only won once since Christmas and have been beaten by fellow cellar-dwellers Blackburn and Bolton in that time. And considering that every side in the top eight have dropped points to Stoke at home, Wolves doing the same is nothing unexpected. Averaging just 0.93 goals per game on the road, don't expect Wolves to trouble the scorers either.

Hot-to-trot tips:

Stoke to win to nil.

Manchester United vs. Queens Park Rangers

9 of 11

Manchester United are now five points clear atop the premiership table and a win here would put them in an incredible position to take out the league. They've only lost once in 2012 and have only dropped five points at home all year. Averaging 2.66 goals per game and just one against, the Red Devils are one of the most imposing sides at home, especially when over half their matches have ended in a clean sheet for the in-form De Gea.

QPR will need to bring something special to take out United; something perhaps similar to the manner in which they disposed of Arsenal last weekend. However, this is at Old Trafford, and QPR must find some away form that hasn't existed all year. The Rangers are averaging just over a goal per game, but are also conceding 1.93 goals per game. So expect there to be goals in this one—just don't expect QPR to be providing a whole lot of them.

Hot-to-trot tips:

Manchester United HT / Manchester United FT Result

Manchester United to win to nil.

Over 0.5 goals for the first half

Over 2.5 goals for the match

Arsenal vs. Manchester City

10 of 11

Arsenal will be frustrated at their performance away from home last week—ending their seven game winning streak prior to that. At home, the Gunners have been dominant all year, dropping to just Liverpool and United throughout the entire season. Most notably is their 1.46 goal difference at home and the 0.8 goals per game they concede in front of their fans. With 67.7 percent of Arsenal's matches this year going over 2.5 goals, there may also be a lot of work for the scorers.

Manchester City's away form has been well documented this year and they will know that they must bring their best game to this match that could very well decide the outcome of the Premier League. The biggest cause for concern however, is the drop off in attack that occurs away from home—averaging just 1.87 goals compared to the 2.93 they do at home.

The key fact for me is that City will play after the United match, meaning that they will know the result. If United win, the Citizens will know the significance that their match has and that they are playing for the title. And if United lost, City will know that they can close the gap with a win here—either way, I think that City will definitely gear themselves up for this one.

Which is why it'll be frustrating that this match ends in a draw. City will play like they did at the start of the year, but this is Arsenal's turf and they don't take many beatings there. Expect van Persie to fire back to his scoring form also as the Gunners hang on for an exciting draw.

Hot-to-trot tips:

Match to finish as a draw

Both teams to score

Over 0.5 goals for the first half

Robin van Persie to score at any time

Conclusion: 3 Final Tips

11 of 11

Well, there you have it, the hottest tips and predictions for every match over the weekend.

However, if you just want the three safest options to take to the bank, then we've got that for you as well.

Suggested treble:

1. Liverpool HT / Liverpool FT result in Liverpool vs. Aston Villa.

2. Second half as the highest scoring half in Norwich City vs. Everton.

3. Stoke to win to Nil vs. Wolverhampton

(Suggested treble pays around 8/1)
