WrestleMania 28 Results: Power Ranking the Top 15 Superstars After the Big PPV

Drake OzJun 7, 2018

Just like that, we're now on the road to WrestleMania 29.

Last night's WrestleMania 28 pay-per-view was one hell of a show that featured some great matches and plenty of surprises. I think I only correctly predicted the outcome of three out of eight matches, but all that means is that the WWE changed things up on me.

Big Show, Kane and The Rock shocked me with their big victories, while plenty of guys on the card delivered some memorable performances that should help them build up a ton of momentum as we head toward Extreme Rules.

But just as there were some winners last night, there were just as many losers. So, who's rising; who's falling?

Let's take a look with the post-WrestleMania 28 edition of the WWE Power Rankings.

15. Epico and Primo (Last Week: Unranked)

1 of 15

We didn't see Epico and Primo on the main card of WrestleMania 28, but they successfully retained their WWE Tag Team Championship in a Triple Threat tag team match that aired on WWE.com prior to the show.

That was a huge win for the duo.

Only last week, Primo was squashed by The Big Show, but last night, he and Epico found themselves getting one of their biggest victories in quite a while on the grandest stage of them all.

Perhaps this is a sign that we'll see Epico and Primo get a bigger role on WWE TV going forward, though I certainly wouldn't bet any money on that actually happening.

14. Kofi Kingston (Last Week: 11)

2 of 15

It's been a very rough few days for Kofi Kingston.

On Friday's SmackDown, Chris Jericho forced Kingston to tap out to the Walls of Jericho, and at WrestleMania 28, Kingston was on the losing side of the Team Teddy vs. Team Johnny match.

I guess it's not totally horrible for Kingston to lose to a guy like Jericho and pick up another loss without even being pinned, but obviously, it's never good to lose two big matches in a span of just three days.

It'll be interesting to see whether Kingston rebounds from this tough stretch or continues his recent losing ways.

13. Randy Orton (Last Week: 9)

3 of 15

I gotta say that I was completely shocked when Randy Orton lost to Kane at WrestleMania 28.

Aside from The Undertaker vs. Triple H, Orton vs. Kane was, at least in my view, the most predictable match on the card. Yet, I wound up eating my words when Kane actually won.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see any real value in having Kane win or Orton lose. It made Orton look really weak to lose to a guy who basically just got owned by John Cena at last month's Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.

I thought Orton really needed this victory to build up some post-WrestleMania momentum, but he wound up taking a huge step backward instead of one forward.

12. Triple H (Last Week: 12)

4 of 15

Triple H lost at WrestleMania 28, so I can't move him up.

But he delivered a phenomenal performance in arguably the best match of night, and even though everyone knew that The Undertaker was going to get the win, Triple H was able to make some fans think otherwise.

Although The Game is probably going to step away from the ring for a while to focus more on his backstage duties, you have to commend the guy for being one fantastic performer, even though he rarely wrestles anymore.

His Hell in a Cell match with The Undertaker will go down as one of the best WrestleMania matches in recent memory. It was a real treat to watch.

11. The Miz (Last Week: Unranked)

5 of 15

The Miz vowed to make a major impact at WrestleMania 28, and despite being a very late addition to the card, he managed to do just that.

The former WWE Champion picked up a huge victory for Team Johnny when he hit Zack Ryder with the Skull-Crushing Finale and got the pin. There were six options to get that pin, but it was The Miz who wound up getting it.

That was a huge step forward for The Miz, who should certainly be in John Laurinaitis' good graces after essentially saving his job for him.

Obviously, the WrestleMania victory itself was big for The Miz, but what could be perhaps even bigger for him is a huge push as a reward from the new GM of both Raw and SmackDown.

10. Daniel Bryan (Last Week: 4)

6 of 15

Taking the biggest plunge down the rankings this week is the former World Heavyweight Champion, Daniel Bryan.

Any which way you slice it, WrestleMania was an absolutely horrible night for Bryan.

Not only did he lose his title, but he lost it in an astounding 18 seconds that saw him literally get no offense in whatsoever. It was a squash on the biggest pay-per-view of the year.

I'm not sure what the story behind Bryan's quick loss is, but that was some embarrassing booking for the WWE and especially for Bryan. Had Bryan just lost the belt in competitive fashion, he would have taken a minimal slide down the rankings.

But a loss after one move has his stock plummeting.

9. The Undertaker (Last Week: 13)

7 of 15

The Undertaker is simply unbelievable.

A lot of wrestling fans wanted last night's match against Triple H to be the last one of Undertaker's career, but he went out there and proved that he can still perform at an extremely high level.

He and Triple H had arguably the best match at WrestleMania 28, and even though he hasn't competed in roughly a year, Undertaker looked like he never missed a beat.

It's amazing what this guy can do at nearly 50 years old, and despite the fact that we all knew that he was going to win the match, that certainly didn't take away from my enjoyment of it.

8. Cody Rhodes (Last Week: 5)

8 of 15

Hey, Cody Rhodes, who's embarrassed now?

After several weeks of ripping The Big Show for his less-than-stellar WrestleMania record, Rhodes actually wound up losing to The Big Show last night after Show nailed him with the Weapon of Mass Destruction.

I was really surprised to see Big Show get the victory here, and I don't think it did Rhodes any favors to have him lose the Intercontinental Championship on the grandest stage of them all.

Rhodes had held onto that title since winning it way back in August 2011, and now, he's lost it. If this means that he's headed for the main event, then I'm all for it, but if not, then I have to seriously question the WWE booking him to lose to a guy like Show, who should be putting others over at this point in his career.

7. Kane (Last Week: 10)

9 of 15

I wasn't really expecting much out of Kane vs. Randy Orton, and I certainly wasn't expecting Kane to win.

But I was proven wrong on two fronts: Kane got the victory, and the match was actually pretty good.

Though it certainly wasn't a classic, it was definitely entertaining and, of course, it was also a huge win for The Big Red Monster. Kane has been booked pretty terribly over the last few months, and this was his brightest moment since returning with his mask on.

I don't think the WWE would put Kane over Orton at WrestleMania unless there were plans to perhaps reignite his push in the coming months.

6. The Big Show (Last Week: 8)

10 of 15

The Big Show finally got his revenge on Cody Rhodes.

After weeks of being embarrassed by Rhodes, Show hit Rhodes with a spear and then the Weapon of Mass Destruction to become the new Intercontinental Champion at WrestleMania 28. The victory means that Big Show has now won every active title in the WWE.

I was pretty shocked to see Big Show get the win, but I guess the WWE wanted him to win the Intercontinental Title because it was the last piece to what is undoubtedly a Hall of Fame-caliber resume.

Congrats to Big Show on winning the title and bouncing back from what's been a rough stretch for the World's Largest Athlete.

5. John Cena (Last Week: 3)

11 of 15

John Cena lost. Clean. In the main event of WrestleMania.

That's something that I honesty never thought I'd type, but much to my surprise, I can indeed do that after Cena was pinned by The Rock last night.

Of all the crazy things that happened at WrestleMania 28, this was perhaps the biggest shocker of them all. I did not expect Cena to lose whatsoever, much less lose clean to the Rock Bottom.

That being said, it's hard to really bump Cena down these rankings a whole lot because it was The Rock that he lost to after all, and Cena was, at least in my view, the star of the match.

If this loss leads to something bigger and better for Cena, then I'm all for it. If not, then I have to seriously question having The Rock come in and meet the biggest star in the company.

4. Chris Jericho (Last Week: 2)

12 of 15

Chris Jericho and CM Punk absolutely killed it at WrestleMania 28...in a good way.

These two delivered an incredible match, and Jericho proved that he hasn't lost a step and can put on as good of a match as anyone in the WWE.

I loved just about everything from this match, and the only reason I'm moving Jericho down the rankings is because other guys had to move up—not because I feel like he should be moving down.

Though Jericho lost his match and failed to become the WWE Champion, he showed that, even in a loss, he (along with Punk, of course) is still the best in the world at what he does.

3. The Rock (Last Week: 7)

13 of 15

The Rock has talked a lot of smack over the last year-plus, and he backed it up by beating John Cena in what many are deeming the biggest match in wrestling history.

When The Rock nailed Cena with that Rock Bottom and got the 1-2-3, I was pleasantly surprised about what this might mean for his WWE future.

I just don't see The Rock going over Cena (clean, nonetheless) if there weren't plans for him to stick around for a while after WrestleMania 28.

Though The Rock was a bit sloppy last night, it's still clear that he can put on an entertaining match and that he loves the business.

He beat Cena just like he said he would, and he did it in arguably the biggest match ever.

2. CM Punk (Last Week: 6)

14 of 15

I know that CM Punk has won two Money in the Bank ladder matches, but last night was his true WrestleMania moment.

Punk and Chris Jericho absolutely tore the house down in their WWE Championship match. When it was all said and done, Punk walked out of SunLife Stadium still the WWE Champion.

He was arguably the star of the show, and his big victory was just the cherry on top of what's been a phenomenal last 12 months for him.

A year ago, Punk was losing to Randy Orton at WrestleMania, but last night, he retained his WWE title in a phenomenal match and extended what's already been a lengthy title reign.

1. Sheamus (Last Week: 1)

15 of 15

What a night for Sheamus.

He defeated Daniel Bryan to win his first ever World Heavyweight Championship, and he did so in one of the shortest WrestleMania matches in history—a bout that lasted just 18 seconds.

While I was disappointed that we didn't get to see a lengthy title match between these two, it really says a lot about Sheamus that the WWE was willing to have him win a match that quickly.

Sheamus has been booked like an unstoppable monster over the last several months, and his big WrestleMania win was the culmination of a great run for the Celtic Warrior.

He should be riding high right now as your new World Heavyweight Champion.

Note: As part of the new WWE blog, I'll be asking all of the B/R wrestling readers for questions for a new mailbag that I will post on Fridays. It will be a slideshow featuring 10-20 questions and answers on a wide range of topics. You can submit questions either through Formspring or Twitter, and the best ones will be answered in the B/R mailbag.
