WrestleMania 28: What Will Happen on the Monday Night Raw After WrestleMania?

Tom ClarkJun 7, 2018

What was the first thought that WWE fans had last night, after WrestleMania 28 was over and in the books?

“Man, that was epic.”

And, the second thought?

“What’s going to happen tomorrow night?”

That’s right, as fans we are always looking ahead, and though it seems physically impossible for us to get amped up so quickly for yet another event, considering we experienced the highs and lows of WrestleMania, the fact is we are ready.

We are very ready.

After all, the Raw following WrestleMania has historically been a big deal.  A highly rated program, as well, with fans tuning in to see what the fallout from WWE’s greatest yearly event will be.  Tonight should be no different, as there are many questions that will surely have all of us tuning in once again.

For me, those questions begin with WWE’s Chief Operating Officer.

Will Triple H be there tonight?  Common sense says no, that he will take the night off from TV and sell his Hell in a Cell match with Undertaker.

To be honest, it’s likely not much of a sell.  I daresay that Hunter is pretty well beat up right about now. Could Hunter’s opponent appear on Raw?

Undertaker did go over at WrestleMania, but the chances of him showing up are slim to none.  I will say, however, that I do not expect nine months to a year to go by before we see The Deadman again.

He left of his own accord this time.  And as long as Taker is breathing, the possibility of another legendary match is always on the table. I believe fans are anxious to see him, and I personally don’t think it will be long until we do.

Will CM Punk’s heat with Chris Jericho continue into tonight?

Punk overcame a crazy disqualification stipulation in his mach against Chris Jericho to retain the WWE Championship.  Punk versus Jericho delivered on every level, and I have no doubt that we will see both men on the program, and likely in action.

Punk is the WWE Champion, and for me, last night only served to strengthen his run, which some fans have criticized as being too easy, and that he has lost his edge in recent months.

I feel that he has never looked better, and the current storyline with Chris—if indeed it’s not yet over—will continue to keep him relevant in the company that he so wanted to make fun again.

By the way, Punk.  Nice work on that one.  You and Chris put on a great match.

Then we come to the man running the program.  Or, I should say the man running both programs.

That’s right, John Laurinaitis is the undisputed general manager of both Raw and SmackDown.  For those fans who just could not get enough of his stiff delivery and silly facial expressions, then you’re in for a treat, as now you get him twice a week.

For those fans who hate John for his stiff delivery and silly facial expressions, then you’re in for some real torture.  Suck it up—he’s a heel, you’re supposed to be ticked off.

Just how annoying and out of control professionally will Johnny Ace be tonight?

That brings us to the main event of WrestleMania 28.  Will The Rock perhaps be live tonight on Raw?

The easy answer is no, that the guy has done exactly what we all thought he would do—he’s packed his bags and caught the next plane to Hollywood.

All due respect to Rocky on this one, however.  I may not personally care all that much for the guy, but he and John put on a good match, and the longer it went on, the more it felt as though the guy had never left.

But, he probably has now.

John Cena, on the other hand, will be there.  The guy is always there.  That’s his job, and that’s what he’s expected to do as the company’s top man.

How he will react to losing to Rocky is another matter.  Will he take it in stride?

Or will we see a deflated John Cena, a guy who had looked forward to winning this mach all year and was convinced that he would, only to lose?

How will he take that loss, and how will he answer to the Cenation tonight?

Perhaps he won’t have the opportunity.  Perhaps he will have to answer to Brock Lesnar instead.

That’s right, kids, Brock Lesnar has supposedly signed a one-year contract with the company that made him world famous.

WWE is bringing back the Next Big Thing to Get Paid, and we are all anxiously waiting to see what the former UFC Champion will do.

See what I did with his nickname there?  Don’t tell him—he can probably take me and I bruise easy.

Brock Lesnar returning to WWE on the Raw after one of the most exciting, jam-packed WrestleManias of all-time.  Now, if that doesn’t make you want to watch tonight, then nothing will.

Nothing except Brock Lesnar and Batista.

Bet you can’t wait now, right?
