WrestleMania 28 Review: Big Show Overcomes Cody Rhodes to Earn Title
It's been a long time coming for The Big Show, who claimed the WWE Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania XXVIII on Sunday.
Not that "The World's Largest Athlete" hadn't held a title (or two) in the world of professional wrestling before. Heck, this was his sixth ascent into world-champion status, one that has made him the 12th Grand Slam champion and the 24th Triple Crown winner in the history of the WWE.
That accomplishment was the one for which time had become The Big Show's biggest enemy, as was the slaying of the giant's run of poor performance at WrestleMania.

But after more than 16 years on the pro wrestling circuit, and more than 13 years since he first set foot in the ring as a member of the then-WWF, The Big Show was back to his usual tricks, using his superior size and strength to outlast a game Cody Rhodes.
Show dominated the relatively diminutive Rhodes from the outset but couldn't quite make quick work of his competitor.
At least, not one like Rhodes, who hadn't held onto the International Championship for seven months by virtue of luck alone. Rhodes fought back with a vengeance, backing up his smack talk concerning The Big Show's poor performance at WrestleManias past by nearly eliminating him from title contention for the third time in a row—after knocking him out of the Elimination Chamber (and the race for the World Heavyweight Championship) and, later, out of the running for the WWE Championship on an episode of Raw.
In the end, though, The Big Show made good on his promise to "win at all costs," ultimately overwhelming Rhodes with his massive size advantage to claim yet another championship and further cement his place in the annals of WWE history.
