Jeremy Lin Injury: New York Knicks Point Guard Needs Surgery, out Six Weeks
Just when you thought injury problems for the New York Knicks couldn't get any worse, Frank Isola of the New York Daily News is reporting Jeremy Lin will be out six weeks as a result of surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee.
"BREAKING: Jeremy Lin will have surgery for a torn meniscus. Out six weeks
"
Lin had missed the last three games with what was being called a sore knee and was listed as day-to-day. But after a less than speedy recovery, there was some concern the injury was worse than originally thought.
And now that's been confirmed.
Lin will be out for the rest of the regular season and unless the Knicks make a late run into the playoffs, he won't play another game this season. Even then, it's doubtful he could return in time.
This is a huge blow to the Knicks who are already being plagued by an injury to Amar'e Stoudemire and to a lesser extent, Jared Jeffries.
Baron Davis will take over the starting role the rest of the way, but even that is uncertain. Davis can still play at a fairly high level, the only problem is he can't log minutes the way he used to.
So instead of the Knicks having a legit point guard running the offense at all times during the game, they will only have that advantage half the game.
Moving forward, the Knicks will need to entire team to step up and try to replace Lin's production. It remains to be seen if they can do so.
