Jeremy Lin: Knee Surgery Will Reportedly Knock out Knicks PG 6 Weeks

Justin WeltonJun 7, 2018

Update: Saturday, March 31, 8:37 p.m. ET by Jeff Chase

According to the Associated Press, Jeremy Lin's surgery will likely keep him out for the rest of the season. The source mentions the only possible return for Lin would be if the team makes a deep playoff run.

Linsanity has subsided substantially in recent weeks. Now, we barely hear about what New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin is doing to the league.

For the next six weeks, the noise will remain quiet.

According to Alan Hahn of the MSG Network, Lin will undergo arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn meniscus and will miss the next six weeks.

With the season ending on April 26, we may see Lin again if the Knicks can hang on to the final Eastern Conference playoff spot. If they can't, or even if the are bounced quickly in the 2012 NBA playoffs, we may not see Linsanity again this season.

Lin has averaged 14.6 points and 6.1 assists per game in 35 games played.

Now we will see how the New York Knicks handle life like they expected before Lin's arrival. They didn't have a great point guard, but they added Baron Davis before Lin's takeoff. He's a shell of his former self, but is capable of playing well in stretches.

Most importantly, he's a guy that doesn't need the ball in his hands constantly to have an impact. This will allow Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire, when he returns, to have more touches.

With Stoudemire out two-to-four weeks and Lin now out six, the playoff positioning comes down to Anthony. This is a player accustomed to being the superstar on a team full of role players; he led the Denver Nuggets to the postseason multiple times.

Anthony and the Knicks will be looking to hold off the Milwaukee Bucks for the eighth spot in the East. He's done it before, and I wouldn't be shocked if he did it again.
