Sean Payton Feels No Need to Explain Himself to His Peers
Sean Payton spoke with reporters this morning after arriving at the NFL owners meetings in Florida yesterday.
Speaking for a little over a half hour, Payton touched on a variety of subjects, including the perception that he was being unfairly singled out for something that goes on all around the league:
"No, I accept this. I’ve heard that argument. I think trying to really look closely at how we and how I can improve is probably a better way for me to handle this than to kind of vent or to look outwardly at other programs and I’ve tried to take that approach.

To his credit, Payton hit all the right notes in his time with the media.
Then, in a curious move, Payton reportedly joined the meeting of NFL owners, general managers and coaches and did not in any way choose to address the gathering about what has transpired under his watch in New Orleans.
Back in the aftermath of Spygate, Bill Belichick took it upon himself to address this same group, the owners and his fellow coaches around the NFL, and apologize for placing a very public black eye on the league.
Sean Payton felt no need to do something similar.
Think about that. Bill Belichick, who everyone labels the dour, anti-establishment anti-Christ, could get up in front of his peers and take responsibility...but Sean Payton couldn't.
That says a lot about Belichick and a lot more about Payton.
