Transfer Rumour Stock Watch: Who's Hot and Who's Not on the Summer Market?
The last weeks of action have seen the transfer rumors continue to pour in for this summer.
With just over two months remaining, there is still time for players to make their mark, but the clock is ticking for those whose stock is falling.
Likewise, there is also just as much time for players that are being hotly tracked to falter and fall off the radar.
Nonetheless, here are the Hot and the Not in the current transfer window speculation.
Hot: Matias Suarez
1 of 13Belgian club Anderlecht's Matias Suarez is the subject of much transfer speculation at the moment.
Arsenal are said to be chasing him according to Inside Football while NESN claims that Liverpool are leading the chase for the 23-year-old striker for a summer transfer.
Goal.com have quoted Anderlecht director Herman van Holsbeeck on the matter of the player as a potential Juventus target:
""There are 15 clubs that are ready to meet our asking price for Suarez, and Juventus are one of those teams," Van Holsbeeck was quoted as saying by Het Nieuwsblad.
"
"We already received an offer from Russia, but his wife doesn't want to move there."
All-in-all Suarez has made 37 appearances for the Brussels club this season with 18 goals and 16 assists, making him a highly valued target as both a goal-scorer and creator.
Hot: Edinson Cavani
2 of 13Chelsea have stepped up their pursuit of Edinson Cavani in the last few weeks but are set to face much competition from Manchester City, Bayern Munich and possibly even Real Madrid according to reports from Metro.
The Daily Mail claims that both Manchester City and Chelsea are both willing to match Napoli's £30 million asking price which is sure to see a tough-fought negotiation for the Uruguayan who has scored 18 goals in the Italian Serie A so far this season.
Hot: Lukas Podolski
3 of 13German international Lukas Podolski has been on the Arsenal radar for months, but the recent rumors that he is expected to be announced as having agreed a deal with the player in coming days have shot his name to the top of the watch list.
The Daily Mirror claims that there has not been a medical for the player according to Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger, but a deal could soon be in place to secure the transfer.
Metro likewise also has Wenger claiming that there has been no medical for the German who has scored 16 goals in the Bundesliga for FC Koln this campaign.
Hot: Eden Hazard
4 of 13Eden Hazard has been on the transfer wish list of practically every team in Europe for the last two seasons.
Only now is it certain that he will be on the move come summer time.
The city of London has the most clubs interested as Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are all in the hunt for the player. Manchester City has also been linked with the player according to the Guardian.
BBC Sport is already predicting Hazard to spark possibly the biggest transfer scramble of the summer.
Hot: Javi Martinez
5 of 13Liverpool plus both Manchester City and Manchester United are three of the primary clubs chasing Athletic Bilbao's highly rated midfielder talent Javi Martinez.
Manchester City are hoping to beat their crosstown rivals Manchester United to the player with a £25 million offer according to Goal.com. While Martinez' buy-out clause is listed at £34 million, an attractive offer could be enough to sway the Basque club to sell.
Liverpool have been listed by Metro as having joined in the race, but there is doubt that the club have another summer of £100 million spending in their purse.
Hot: Demba Ba
6 of 13Recently ranked the No. 2 all-time Premier League free transfer by The Sun's Tom Barclay, Demba Ba is being heavily linked with an exit from Newcastle United just a season after joining the Magpies.
Newcastle Manager Alan Pardew has been stated in the International Business Times as not being worried by transfer rumors. However, that may just be tough talk as Magpies owner Mike Ashley is likely to take a huge offer for Ba if it is put on the table.
The possibility that Ba could leave has also been seen as a fear to Pardew in his call to arms of the fans to urge their support of the player to make him wish to stay at the Tyneside club as mentioned by Goal.com.
Not: Fernando Torres
7 of 13The Chelsea man has been thought as a major possible departure from Stamford Bridge this coming summer after his disappointing time in London.
However, there are few clubs likely to be interested in producing a high enough offer for the form-struggling superstar.
A recent display saw Torres produce two goals and two assists against Leicester City, but that kind of production is supposed to be normal for the Spaniard instead of it being the high point of his season against a Championship side.
Not: Wesley Sneijder
8 of 13Dutch international and Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder was a major transfer target of the past summer for Manchester United and several other clubs.
However, he has fallen off the map in the last month or so since not moving in January or the summer before.
Not: Yakubu
9 of 13Blackburn Rovers attacker and former Everton striker Yakubu looked a hot possible target for the coming transfer window when the January window passed and he was third in the top five of the EPL scoring charts.
Only two goals since the turn of the year has seen his transfer stock plummet in the last two months. Even though he is still fifth in the charts on 14 goals, there is nowhere near the interest from the first of the year.
Not: Dimitar Berbatov
10 of 13Dimitar Berbatov was looking to be one of the top transfer targets of several teams this summer.
However, now he looks like he could be used for a make-weight instead of being a target other than fleeting interest from Sunderland rumored by Shields Gazette.
He is rumored to be on the table for United to ship back to Tottenham if they can structure a deal to bring Luka Modric to Old Trafford according to International Business Times.
Not: Matt Jarvis
11 of 13Wolverhampton's dastardly form has seen Matt Jarvis' stock weaken as the English winger was thought to be a major transfer prospect last summer.
He could again be one this coming transfer window if Wolves do indeed suffer relegation.
However, for now there is little talk of him going anywhere.
Not: Hugo Rodallega
12 of 13The last two seasons, Wigan Athletic forward Hugo Rodallega looked as if he was a budding talent on the verge of become a solid English Premier League striker.
However, this season he has displayed quite the opposite of that.
Normally in most sports a player in his final year of a contract or, "contract year," as it is referred to in the United States on most occasions, a player seems to play out of his shoes to earn either a better deal with the same club or earn a great new opportunity. The former Atlanta Braves catcher Javier Lopez always was a contract year player in baseball.
You would think Rodallega would want to impress potential suitors by being all about the business on the pitch this season, but he has done none of the above. It is unlikely he is going to make a hugely attractive move this summer.
Conclusion
13 of 13The summer transfer window continues to move closer and as the days go, more and more the anticipation builds.
Another week of action is beginning and another chance for all the transfer hopefuls to try and push their stock back up the charts.
