Tim Tebow: Pat Robertson Says Future Manning Injury Would Be Broncos' Karma
John Elway and the Denver Broncos weren't prepared to stand behind Tim Tebow as their franchise quarterback, but famous televangelist Pat Robertson still supports him. He said any future injuries to Peyton Manning would be karma for the quarterback switch.
It's not a major surprise Robertson has come out in support of Tebow. Staying relevant is his main job and there isn't a bigger story than Tebow right now. That said, hoping for an injury to serve as some type of payback doesn't seem like a smart approach.
Reid Cherner of USA Today passed along Robertson's thoughts about the drama:

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
"Robertson said Denver treated Tebow "shabbily" after all he did for the "nothing team" last season.
"And you just ask yourself, OK, so Peyton Manning was a tremendous MVP quarterback, but he's been injured. If that injury comes back, Denver will find itself without a quarterback. And in my opinion, it would serve them right," he said on the 700 Club.

Tebow hasn't been shy about expressing his Christian faith in public when most players try to keep the focus on football. That has led him to get more support from some, like Robertson, but also to receive more backlash than an average player.
Even he wouldn't get on board Robertson's karma train, however. Tebow will be dealing with the spotlight enough following his trade to the New York Jets. The last thing he needs is to drum up some type of controversy involving Manning.
Beyond that, hoping for an injury to happen is wrong. Manning continues to fight his way back from a serious neck injury. So saying it would serve the Broncos right if things went poorly for Manning, when it could become a life-altering problem, crosses the line.
Robertson was clearly going for shock value, which he accomplished, but sometimes the added media attention isn't a good thing. The old cliché about there being no such thing as bad press doesn't always ring true.
You can't blame Manning for taking an opportunity presented to him. If Tebow had made more progress as a passer, he wouldn't have had to worry about losing his starting spot.
Hopefully Tebow distances himself from these comments as quickly as possible. They are just another example of sports and personal issues being a bad mix, and Tebow's smart enough to understand that. This goes beyond a simple “God bless” after a game.
Nobody knows how all of the changes will play out for the Broncos and Tebow, but let's hope everybody stays healthy so we can find out.
