Miami Heat: Which of the Big 3 Should Go If Heat Fail to Win Title?
The 2011 NBA season ended in a total upset, as the newly formed team in Miami were upset by the veteran Dallas Mavericks.
The Miami Heat infamously discussed not winning just one, but multiple titles.
Failing to reach their goal resulted in more backlash for Heat star LeBron James, and tons of criticism for his buddies, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.
How could the Heat fail to win?
What about the summer prep rally?
What about the guarantees?
What about no team in NBA history ever assembling this much star power in their prime?
The importance of winning immediately has added even more pressure to the Heat's current season. Their season is win it all or go home crying, again!
If the Heat fail to win it all this year, who of the "Big 3" should go?
First, Let's get the easy part out of the way: Dwyane Wade will retire in Miami. That's simply a fact. Wade owns South Beach. He has tenure, seniority, experience and whatever else keeps people from getting fired, or in this case, traded. Most importantly, D-Wade single-handedly won an NBA championship for his city in 2006.
LeBron James and Chris Bosh have no jewelry.
This is why one of them will have to depart should the team fail to win the big one this season.
LeBron is really in the driver's seat. If he plays in the playoffs the way he has dominated the regular season, he stays put. If Bosh's play in the the postseason is anything like his post All-Star break stretch, he is out the door.
It should be that simple. We're talking basketball people. Let's get feelings out of the way.
If LBJ does anything even remotely similar to last year's Finals come playoff time, Pat Riley better personally escort LeBron to the train station. That's right, the first thing smoking out of Miami has to have James on it.
Chris Bosh's play has to be more complete. If he even sniffs at another 3-for-15 performance against the Chicago Bulls, Bosh will have to go.
We love the "Big 3" in South Beach, but the time is now. The team has to sense the moment.
Their basketball lives are on the line, and I just hope they play like it when it matters most.
