Jeremy Lin: Still Awesome, Still on the Knicks, If Anyone Cares

Ethan Sherwood StraussJun 6, 2018

Rumors of Linsanity's death have been greatly exaggerated.

Last night, Jeremy Lin hit the Toronto Raptors up for 18 points and 10 assists en route to an easy Knicks victory. You might recall that the Raps were host to peak Linsanity, when Jeremy hit a game winner on Valentine's Day. This was not surprising in the slightest, because Lin is averaging 15.6 points and 7.6 assists in his post All Star break obscurity. Though he's not producing like a superstar, his 21 PER is highest on the team, and a better efficiency rating than many 2012 All-Stars have notched.

Lin's rise was tacitly depicted as a fad, with those who delighted in it ready to abandon ship at the first sign of failure. The end came when Carmelo Anthony returned from injury, just as the Knicks hit a tough stretch in the schedule. The losses piled up, Mike D'Antoni resigned, and people lost track of the point guard's progress. Many even assumed New York's losses spoke to Jeremy's failure, in a phenomenon that astute hoops guru Beckley Mason deemed "Winsanity."
