NCAA Women's Tournament 2012: Brittany Griner and Players Who Will Rule Today

Tim KeeneyJun 3, 2018

The men's NCAA tournament doesn't get started again until Thursday, but that doesn't mean you'll be void of college basketball.

The ladies of CBB finish up the second round of the women's NCAA tournament on Tuesday. For all you fanatics out there, here's a preview of who to keep your eye on once the action starts.

Brittney Griner, Baylor Bears

Brittney Griner. Best player on the best team in the country. Move over, LeBron.

Griner, Baylor's 6'8" center, is averaging an amazing 23.1 points, 9.2 rebounds and 5.1 (!) blocks for the undefeated Bears. A couple of teams have come close to knocking off Baylor, but the general consensus is that it probably won't happen.

And that's because of Griner. Sorry, Florida, you're standing on the tracks, and the Griner Train is coming through.

Elena Delle Donne, Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens

If Griner is the Anthony Davis of the women's game, then Delle Donne is Thomas Robinson, because she deserves just as much consideration for the Player of the Year award.

The 6'5" junior forward leads the nation in scoring with 27.9 points per game to go along with 10.4 rebounds and 2.63 blocks.

She has single-handedly carried the Blue Hens to a 31-1 record (and only a No. 3 seed!).

I don't about anyone else, but I am pumped for a Griner-Delle Donne matchup in the Elite Eight.

Maggie Lucas, Penn State Nittany Lions

The little 5'9" sophomore guard from Penn State can absolutely light it up from deep.

On the season, Lucas is averaging 19.3 points per game, which is 21st in the country, but it's how she does it that makes it so impressive.

Lucas has a deadly jump shot. She makes 2.39 threes per contest while shooting 41 percent (seventh in the nation) from deep. Not only that, she hits her free throws at an 89 percent clip, which is better than most guys can say.

What's more, Machine Gun Maggie has the trick shots—and just general outstanding range—down, as evidenced below.

Look out, LSU.
