Peyton Mannig: What to Make of San Francisco 49ers Throwing Hat in Ring
The Peyton Manning saga seemed to be coming to an end, with the outcome becoming more and more clear.
Now, the San Francisco 49ers have emerged as a potential landing spot for the future Hall of Famer, which adds a nice little twist to all the drama.

How were the 49ers able to keep this from the Media?
What do we make of Manning taking a physical for the 49ers. Has he taken one for other teams? If he hasn't why would he go through the trouble for San Francisco.
Hold on Alex!
The 49er's current quarterback Alex Smith is reportedly close to a three-year deal with the club. Is he really, or have the 49ers been interested in Manning this whole time?
If the latter is the case, then Smith has been duped into thinking he would be the man in San Francisco, at least for a few years anyway.
Would it Work?
After you take away all the cloak and dagger drama; is Manning a good fit for the 49ers?
Why the heck not? It's a weak division, and the 49er's are by far the best team in the Manning sweepstakes.
Manning will want to run the show as far as his audible-heavy offense is concerned, but Harbaugh should have no problem with that Idea.
Former Hall of Fame quarterback and ex 49er Steve Young thinks it is definitely the right fit.
Bottom Line
If Manning is healthy, this is the best fit for him. The defense is in place, so no worries there. Frank Gore represents a solid run-game, and the edition of Randy Moss will give them a nice deep threat.
Moss would of course need to behave. This shouldn't be a problem. Moss is basically on his last life as far as football goes and he should know this and be on his best behavior.
49er's tight end Vernon Davis will also benefit from Manning, and vice-versa.
It's a Win-Win for all parties involved. Except for Alex Smith.
