NFL Rumors: Matt Flynn Won't Solve Dolphins' QB Woes
After Peyton Manning informed the Miami Dolphins that he will be signing elsewhere, the team is mistakenly turning its attention towards Matt Flynn.
Flynn was expected to be close to signing with the Seattle Seahawks, but Jason Wilde of ESPNMilwaukee.com reports that the quarterback will take a scheduled visit to Miami.
On one side, this is great news for the Dolphins as a way to hedge their bets after missing out on the Manning sweepstakes.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The former Green Bay Packer is considered the next best quarterback on the market and he is familiar with the offense of new Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin.
If Miami were able to sign Flynn to a low amount of years or guaranteed money, it would be worth the risk to let him fight for the starting job.
Unfortunately, Jason Cole of Yahoo! reports that the free agent is expecting $7-8 million a year.
At this mark, Flynn would not only have to be given the starting gig, but it would also guarantee that he would get plenty of time to reach his potential.
Ownership does not like to see an expensive product riding the bench.
However, for a quarterback that has only made two career starts, it is irresponsible to believe that he would be able to come in and perform at a high level with consistency.
Most people have evaluated Flynn based on one monster game against a poor pass-defense. He has shown promise, but not enough to warrant the kind of money that is being offered.
Instead, the Dolphins should look to the draft. The players have only slightly less experience and at least four more years to grow.
The quarterback class after Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III is relatively weak, but players like Ryan Tannehill of Texas A&M show a lot of promise.
If the team does not think it could be competitive this season, waiting on USC quarterback Matt Barkley might end up being the better long-term option, with Matt Moore remaining as the starter in the meantime.
Fans want to see immediate results, but there is no guarantee that Flynn will provide that. What he will do is tie up the team's finances for a few years and ruin the chance of finding someone better.
Ownership needs to look past one game and do what is best for the team in the long run.
