Peyton Manning Reportedly Offered $60 Million over 5 Years by Denver Broncos

Rob GoldbergMar 16, 2012

The Peyton Manning free agency saga might be coming to an end soon, with the Denver Broncos reportedly offering the quarterback a contract for $60 million over five years.

While other players make their decision quickly on the first or second day of the free agent period, Manning has taken his time to make sure he absolutely makes the right choice.

The future Hall of Fame quarterback has already informed the Miami Dolphins that he will not play for them, so most believe the list is narrowed to just the Broncos and Tennessee Titans.

Tennessee owner Bud Adams is willing to do whatever it takes to land Manning, saying that he is willing to offer the quarterback a "contract for life."

As appealing as this sounds, the Broncos have the advantage of more cap room. This could allow for more guaranteed money up front, a big factor for a player coming off four neck surgeries.

This all depends on how healthy Manning really is.

A contingent of Denver personnel—including John Elway, John Fox and the medical staff—have traveled to Durham, North Carolina to watch the quarterback work out.

The telling factor will be in what Manning decides to do after the workout.

If the staff leaves impressed with the session, they need to make sure they can lock up a deal with the veteran before he is able to take any more meetings.

Otherwise, he can be gone forever.
