2012 NFL Free Agents: Which Receivers Are Left for the Jacksonville Jaguars?

David LevinMar 15, 2012

The Jacksonville Jaguars finally jumped into the free-agent pool last night and pulled off a nice stroke of luck, getting Laurent Robinson.

With the plucking of a pass-catcher that was sorely needed, the Jaguars now need to find someone who can complement the former Dallas Cowboys receiver.

So, who is next?

The Jaguars could look to other options with a very limited amount of players left in free agency. Big names are gone or have re-signed with their current teams.

There are a handful of players who could still help this team and may come at bargain prices.

Plaxico Burress

He can still get it done.

He is tall and rangy, and he causes matchup problems for defenders in the end zone.

Blaine Gabbert needs all the help he can get, and Burress would be a key cog on third downs.

If he and tight end Marcedes Lewis were sent into the red zone on scoring plays, secondaries would be worried about being out-jumped for passes.

Mario Manningham

He would be perfect for this offense.

I have always been a fan and thought the Super Bowl was his coming-out party.

He has speed to burn and can make the huge play with the game on the line.

Brandon Lloyd

I think if this got done and the Jaguars could add another receiver in the draft then you may have something.

Lloyd fits into almost all offensive schemes and could be a major target in this offense.

He has a connection with Jerry Sullivan from his playing days in San Francisco.

Eddie Royal

A former Denver Broncos player.

Has good speed and would help out in the return game.

He can play both in the slot and on the outside.

Hines Ward

For a guy who has been in the league 14 seasons, he can still get it done.

He may not be as fast as he used to be or the "lead" receiver on a team, but he could be the possession guy on third down who moves the chains.

He would be a valuable asset to this team and would help in the development of Blaine Gabbert.
