Cleveland Browns Free Agency Tracker: Browns Not Pursuing Matt Flynn
Last night news broke that the Cleveland Browns and Miami Dolphins were both talking to free agent quarterback Matt Flynn.
Well, now comes word that the Browns haven't actually pursued Flynn at all, that the team is nowhere close to making an offer for him and that they probably won't actually go after him at all.
Along with the Seahawks and Dolphins, the Browns were thought to be front-runners for Flynn's services, so the fact that they appear to have zero interest in him is certainly newsworthy. The former Packers backup will visit Seattle Thursday night and into Friday, and now it appears that this has become a two-horse race.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
With that development, it is clear that the Browns will enter next season with Colt McCoy as their starting quarterback. Cleveland could try to draft a quarterback like Texas A&M's Ryan Tannehill or Oklahoma State's Brandon Weeden at some point, but neither of those guys are likely to be NFL-ready by September.
While Flynn presents a serious risk to the team that acquires him, I'm surprised the Browns are sitting this one out. I do believe he is a better option than McCoy, who has failed to develop at all in his two years in the league.
In 21 career games, McCoy has completed just 58.4 percent of his passes and 20 touchdowns to go along with 20 interceptions. His career passer rating of 74.5 is also dismal.
But Cleveland appears set to enter next season with McCoy as the team's starter under center. While I expect them to either add a veteran or draft some competition for him, it is still surprising that the Browns have this much faith in the Texas product.
