Seattle Seahawks Free Agency: Still in Line for Brilliant Signings in 2012
The Seattle Seahawks are looking to throw it deep in free agency and may very well come out with the best of the open market war in landing Matt Flynn and Mario Williams.
Danny O'Neil of The Seattle Times first reported the Seahawks were looking to sign Mario Williams and Matt Flynn when free agency began on Tuesday.
"There's a pretty strong buzz the Seahawks are going to pursue Williams aggressively. Could be Seattle chases Flynn, too, seeing him as the answer to its need for a long-term quarterback. After all, Seattle general manager John Schneider worked in Green Bay when the Packers drafted Flynn.

That is when things became a tad messy with the Seahawks committing money to re-sign some defensive help.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported via tweet the club would re-sign defensive end Red Bryant.
"Red Bryant re-signing with Seattle: 5 years, $35 million, including $14.5 million gtd.

The money and position would seem to negate the need to go after a player with the stature of Mario Williams.
ESPN's Tim Kavanagh begs to differ in his Insider report on the latest free-agent signing. Here is what he had to write about the Bryant signing:
"Those are big numbers, but they're not so big that they rule the Seahawks out of the pursuit of Williams (or Flynn).
"
Kavanagh points out that this is a stroke of genius as the Seahawks shore up the defensive front if they do fail to sign Williams, but make themselves a potential monster if they do.
With Williams and Bryant on the line, the Seahawks would feature one of the fiercest pass rushes in the game.
Seattle is showing no regard to saving money and it will go a long way to making them a force in 2012. They need far more grit on that side of the ball and would be an unrelenting force with a tandem that could breach just about any pass protection.
On the flip side, they could still sign Matt Flynn who is the most intriguing quarterback on the market. They struck out on Peyton Manning who has his sights set on other teams at the moment.
Flynn showed a big arm and tremendous poise when he lit up the hungry Detroit Lions in the final game of the regular season.
There are never any guarantees at this time of year, but Seattle is a dark-horse contender if they manage to rip Flynn and Williams from the free-agent frenzy.
