Lakers Trade Rumors: Ramon Sessions Makes Most Sense for Desperate Team

Andrew KulhaJun 7, 2018

The Los Angeles Lakers will be in a very bad spot if the 2012 NBA trade deadline comes and goes without them trading for a point guard.

They are a desperate team right now, and desperate times call for desperate measures. They need to trade for a point guard and they need to make it happen as soon as possible.

Bless Derek Fisher's heart for doing everything he has done for this organization, but his time has come and gone. The Lakers need to get younger and faster at the point guard position if they have any hopes of contending in today's NBA.

This isn't new news to anybody reading this though. The Lakers needs at the point are well-documented.

The problem is, for some reason one of the most prolific franchises in sports cannot seem to find a trade that works for both parties.

They couldn't work a trade in NBA2K12 franchise mode right now, and no, that's not an overstatement.

Where can Lakers fans find hope? Will they ever get a point guard or find somebody that wants to trade with them?

According to Alex Kennedy of HOOPSWORLD, there may be an obtainable option:

"

Ramon Sessions is a more obtainable option. The Lakers have been linked to Sessions for weeks and they continue to express significant interest in the Cleveland Cavaliers’ point guard. While other teams have called about Sessions, the Lakers are believed to be the frontrunner to acquire his services, if they decide to pull the trigger on a deal.

"

Sessions actually makes sense for the Lakers, and you'd have to think the rebuilding Cavaliers wouldn't mind getting a few pieces back for the young point guard, considering they have Kyrie Irving.

He's averaging 10.7 points, 5.2 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game in just over 24 minutes of average floor time, and you'd have to believe that those numbers would go up playing with the Lakers.

Not only that, but he's only 25 years old, which makes Fisher seem like an ancient relic.

The Lakers need to pursue this trade and address this desperate need.

What do the Cavaliers want for him?

That's the only question the Lakers need to be asking at this point.

Short of giving up both Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum or Kobe Bryant, they should make this happen.
