Cesc Fabregas Comments About FC Barcelona Match and Lionel Messi

FC Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has expressed his satisfaction with the result of the match against Racing Santander this past weekend. Fabregas commented about the match in an interview with Barca TV (h/t fcbarcelona.com).

He said that Barca did their best and that nothing is taken for granted in contemporary world football. Fabregas also took advantage of the interview to praise Lionel Messi.

Fabregas praised Messi as a football player who is unlike any other on the planet. He also talked about how Messi deserves the praise that has been heaped on him.

The match between FC Barcelona and Racing Santander was won with two goals scored by Messi. The result further cemented him as a top goal scorer.

According to the FC Barcelona website, Messi has now scored 230 goals in matches in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.

However, while all of the praise that he receives is great, there is reason to worry.

The possibility exists of too much expectation being placed Messi with regards to goals and forgetting he is human. While Messi has helped FC Barcelona, there will be a time when he will not be around.

Messi will also have days when he is not at his best. When that happens, it is hoped that FC Barcelona will not blame him as much as he is praised.

I also wish that FC Barcelona would develop an alternative plan should Messi one day have problems or leave. Regardless, we should enjoy the Messi era while it is around.
