Giannis Posts Cryptic Photo Amid NBA Trade Rumors Involving Heat, Celtics, Bucks

Andrew PetersJun 22, 2026

The NBA draft will take place Tuesday as one of the most stacked classes in years moves up to the professional level, but all eyes are on Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks for the next 24 hours.

With a potential trade on the way, Antetokounmpo posted a cryptic message on social media. He included a photo of himself in a Bucks uniform with the caption "GOD, I trusted you at the beginning, and I will continue to trust you throughout."

The saga surrounding Antetokounmpo and the Bucks, which dates back to last summer, could finally come to an end on Monday or Tuesday. Bucks owner Jimmy Haslam said in May that he wanted to either find a trade for Antetokounmpo ot sign him to a new deal before the draft, and that deadline is nearly here.

A number of teams have been linked to the two-time MVP, but ESPN's Shams Charania reported Monday that the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics are the two finalists.

Charania noted that a trade to Boston would be centered around star Jaylen Brown, while a package from Miami would include "cost-controlled players, rookie-scale contracts, significant draft capital."

NBA insider Jake Fischer reported earlier this month that Miami's deal specifically would include guard Tyler Herro, forward Jaime Jaquez Jr. and center Kel'el Ware.

Brown reportedly isn't a fan of playing in Milwaukee, and he wouldn't exactly fit on a rebuilding Bucks team, so it's fair to assume that Brown would be rerouted elsewhere or traded again after the fact.

One factor interested teams have to consider with Antetokounmpo is whether he's willing to stick around after his deal ends, and Charania noted that the Celtics and Heat are the only teams with whom he'd be willing to sign a long-term contract.

Antetokounmpo's recent post doesn't indicate what lies next for him, but it seems something is on the way.
