Peyton Manning Rumors: Titans' Reported Interest Is Nothing but a Pipe Dream
Bud Adams should be in a nursing home.
The 89-year-old Tennessee Titans owner may or may not be suffering from memory loss. His declaration of interest in not an offensive lineman, not a defensive end but Peyton Manning is downright foolish, to say the least.
Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reported this disturbing statement from Adams on Manning as the owner uttered:

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
"“He is the man I want. Period. And the people that work for me understand that. They know who I want. I want Mr. Manning with the Titans and I will be disappointed if it doesn’t happen.”
"
And if you don’t understand Adams, he’ll flip you the bird – with both hands.
But in all seriousness, Adams clearly isn’t thinking clearly.
Just for a bit of context here, Wyatt tweeted this after the news of Manning’s release broke:
"Heading any Peyton Manning-to-#Titans questions off at the pass -- no, it's not happening.
— Jim Wyatt (@jwyattsports) March 7, 2012"
At least Wyatt is thinking clearly.
Adams just signed Matt Hasselbeck last offseason to a three-year, $21 million contract. The veteran passer went on to exceed expectations as a Titan despite the down year as a team. Breaking the bank for Manning with Hasselbeck’s salary already taking up a chunk of cap space isn’t a wise transaction.
Tennessee also selected Jake Locker eighth overall in the 2011 NFL Draft. In limited action, Locker excelled in his first season in two-tone blue, finishing the campaign with a 99.4 passer rating. The former Washington Husky actually outplayed Hasselbeck and will challenge for the Titans’ starting job this year.
Fun Fact of the Day: Tennessee isn’t a contender. Manning only wants to play on a contender.
While the Titans have crater-like holes at guard, center, defensive end, outside linebacker and both safety positions, Adams is putzing around with a 35-year-old quarterback. QB is one of the few positions on their roster that doesn’t need desperately upgrading.
Yeah, I get it. Adams’ team was owned by Manning and the Indianapolis Colts for over a decade. I wouldn’t bet money that the ancient owner doesn’t have a No. 18 tattoo on his back.
But let’s get real here.
Tennessee is a run-first football team. Manning doesn’t do run-first football. And Chris Johnson definitely doesn’t do pass-first football.
Manning to the Titans is nothing but a pipe dream.
