Peyton Manning to Washington Redskins: NFC East Isn't the Ideal Fit for Manning
If Peyton Manning is willing to join an NFC team, it shouldn't be the Washington Redskins. The NFC East is not an ideal fit for the former Indianapolis Colts star.
The division has many strong defenses and several factors that make it an unwise career move for the 35-year-old.
Let's look at some of the reasons the NFC East wouldn't be a good move for Manning.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
He would compete against his brother twice per season
Now that Eli Manning has two Super Bowl rings with the New York Giants, people have already started saying that he's a better quarterback than his brother.
While you cannot back up that argument with regular-season stats, it's clear that Eli has been much more clutch in the postseason than Peyton.
As a guy who doesn't demand media attention, despite the fact he does a lot of commercials, the hype surrounding the games between he and Eli would not be something Peyton will want to go through.
There's just too many distractions and comparisons that would be bothersome.
The division is full of elite defensive players
The NFC East division is full of strong defensive linemen who would make Peyton Manning's job a nightmare, should he join the Redskins.
Manning would have to face the Giants defensive line twice, which is two times more than anyone wants to see those guys. Justin Tuck, Jason Pierre-Paul and Chris Canty are three talented defensive players who would come after Manning often.
Trent Cole of the Philadelphia Eagles would also be a tough player for Manning to oppose, and the Eagles defense as a whole will likely improve through the draft and free agency.
The Cowboys front seven is also dangerous, and All-Pro pass-rusher DeMarcus Ware is one of the very best players in football at any position.
Playoffs aren't guaranteed
Anything can happen in the NFC East—you can finish last one year and place first the next. The division is so competitive and making the playoffs is never a sure thing.
Manning is not going to go to a team that has a chance to miss the playoffs. Let's face it, the Redskins don't have a ton of offensive weapons on their roster that would give Manning what he needs to dominate in a strong division.
With the Eagles, Cowboys and Giants all more talented than the Redskins, Manning would likely be at home watching the playoffs if he goes to Washington next season.
