Watching The Warriors In Person Is Worse Than Watching On TV.
I got the pleasure of watching my favorite team, the Golden State Warriors up in Portland. The Warriors had already beat the Portland Trail Blazers earlier this year, so I had some hope that they would at least make a contest out it. Well they did for a half.
It's no wonder why as Warriors fans we are frustrated with the team. At one point I yelled out at Don Nelson "just quit and go retire to Hawaii, it's where you belong." Of course I doubt he even heard it, but I wasn't that far from the court either.
Anyway as usual the Warriors were able to start out pretty hot and even built a 12-point lead over the Blazers. Of course the Warriors just handed the lead back to the Blazers with careless turnovers. Even worse, the lack of hustle from this team is just sickening.
It's amazing the difference between the Blazers and the Warriors. The Blazers are the second youngest team in the league and the Warriors, of course, are the first. Yet, the Blazers hustle and they battle for the loose balls and the Warriors are the exact opposite.
What's more disturbing is the fact that even though the Warriors were down six going into half time they were shooting 50 percent from the field, yet the reason why the Blazers had the lead is because of their work on the offensive glass. The Warriors didn't rebound at all.
Also, what bugs me the most is that they had Brandon Roy coming back from a strained hamstring and they didn't attack him on the offensive side of the ball until the game was pretty much over.
The second thing that bugged me is that Biedrins is more athletic than Greg Oden and was able to get him into foul trouble, but they never went back to that in the second half when Oden was in.
The third thing that bugged me is why Corey Maggette and Kelenna Azubuike didn't see more playing time. Azubuike just nailed a three pointer and the Warriors were playing with confidence and Maggette was scoring as well. Yet, Azubuike is taken out and the team immediately struggles and Azubuike doesn't even return until just under two minutes remaining in the second quarter.
Lastly, I don't know what Nelson was thinking but Anthony Randolph picked up a quick two fouls. Did he even bother going to the bench? Nope. Randolph then picked up his third foul and then Nelson decided maybe it was a good idea to get Randolph out of the game. Way to build your rookies confidence!
Oh well back to the game, the Warriors eventually lost 113-100. I must say as I've mentioned many times before the Warriors are embarrassing and nothing is going to change that until Nelson is gone.
