What They're Saying
Ira Winderman, Heat beat writer for The Sun-Sentinel, answered a reader question about LeBron James concerning body language lately.
"Q: Watching the Heat, I can't help but notice the glares that LeBron shoots Mario and Joel. And I think I saw a few directed at Dexter this weekend, too. -- Steve, London.
"
A: You did. LeBron James certainly can be expressive on the court, particularly when the likes of Mario Chalmers, Joel Anthony and Dexter Pittman are having their moments. But I've always had an issue with those with read too much into body language, since, ultimately, the accompanying (or ensuing) words are just as significant. Like many great players, LeBron has an expectation of greatness from those around him. And, face it, Mario can be maddening with some of his play, and I'm not sure LeBron ever has had to deal with a center rotation the likes of Joel and Dexter. He's passionate. There shouldn't be anything wrong with that.
Most Important Player to Watch: Deron Williams
D-Will is coming off an epic 57-point outing against the Charlotte Bobcats.
The Nets PG drained a ton of buckets, but his team only won by three points.
New Jersey is going to need a similar performance tonight from its superstar if they want a shot at toppling the Heat.
With Brook Lopez out, several role players will have to step up as well.
Key Matchup: LeBron James vs. Perimeter Defenders
The Nets have a “LeBron stopper” on their roster in DeShawn Stevenson, but he wasn’t able to shut down his man in their first meeting back in January.
James put up 32 points, seven rebounds, nine assists, two steals and a block in that game, all without Dwyane Wade on the floor due to injury.
New Jersey is going to need to figure out a scheme to slow down King James if they don’t want to get blown out.
Prediction
Heat 107, Nets 90
