Randy Moss and Saints: Veteran WR Would Be Fantastic Fit with Drew Brees
The New Orleans Saints haven't had a great offseason with the news of a "bounty" program and the minimal progress made on quarterback Drew Brees' new contract, but one thing that could result in a major positive for the team going forward is offering legendary receiver Randy Moss a workout.
Moss did not play in the 2011 NFL season, but even at 35 years of age, he would still be an effective wide receiver in an elite passing offense such as the Saints'.
Moss would be a fantastic fit in New Orleans, and here's why.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Free Agency Could Leave Saints Thin at WR Position
With the possibility that the team's best wide receivers, Marques Colston and Robert Meachem, might not be re-signed in free agency, the Saints have to start looking at possible replacements.
Moss won't replace Colston and Meachem's production, but the veteran receiver is still capable of stretching the field with his speed—although he has lost a step—and his tremendous route running.
Since Brees and All-Pro left guard Carl Nicks will cost a ton of money to re-sign long-term, the Saints might not bring back both Colston and Meachem.
Given Colston's injury problems over the last few seasons, the Saints may think twice before giving him an expensive contract extension.
There is not enough money under the salary cap to give all four players what they want, so the Saints will need to plug the holes in the roster with some cheap signings.
Moss would be a low-risk, high-reward signing that would be inexpensive.
Moss and Brees Would be a Fantastic Combo
We all saw what Moss was able to do with elite quarterback Tom Brady for a few seasons in New England. The two put up record-breaking numbers and were one of the most effective QB/WR combos of all time.
Brees is arguably the best quarterback in the NFL and is coming off a record-breaking season in which he broke Dan Marino's mark for most passing yards in a single season.
Brees' fantastic accuracy and arm strength would suit Moss quite well, who can excel as a deep threat and a short sideline receiver.
Moss' stats from 2010 don't look good because he played many of the games that season with the Minnesota Vikings and Tennessee Titans, both of whom struggled to pass the ball efficiently.
With Brees, Moss would put up much better stats, and with defenses focusing on other Saints offensive weapons such as star tight end Jimmy Graham, Moss isn't going to be double teamed often.
Motivation to Win, Make Money
Moss still doesn't have a Super Bowl ring, and I truly believe he wants to win one before he retires for good. He's going to be a Hall of Famer someday, but the lack of a championship on his resume is certainly something that motivates him.
If Moss plays in the NFL this season, you can bet it will be with a contender. The Saints are still a top team in the NFC, and with Brees they will always be a threat to come back no matter the deficit.
Playing on a Super Bowl contender and making money would be all the motivation Moss needs to shine with the Saints.
