Chelsea FC News: Dismissal of Andre Villas-Boas Was Premature
The Barclay’s Premier League has taken another shocking turn as the season starts to draw closer to the conclusion with the firing of Chelsea FC manager Andre Villas-Boas.
The 34-year-old Portuguese leader was brought into the organization to help breed success after owner Roman Abramovich paid 13.3 million pounds (21 million US dollars) to acquire his services. Villas-Boas only had the job for eight months.
With a tough group of fixtures on the horizon and Chelsea sitting in fifth place on the EPL table, the squad felt it was necessary to cut ties with their current coach and head in a new direction.

The Chelsea FC announced the dismissal via a statement that read as follows:
"Andre Villas-Boas has parted company with Chelsea Football Club today. The board would like to record our gratitude for his work and express our disappointment that the relationship has ended so early. Unfortunately the results and performances of the team have not been good enough and were showing no signs of improving at a key time in the season. The club is still competing in the latter stages of the Uefa Champions League and the FA Cup, as well as challenging for a top-four spot in the Premier League, and we aim to remain as competitive as possible on all fronts. With that in mind we felt our only option was to make a change at this time. With immediate effect Roberto Di Matteo has been appointed first team coach on an interim basis until the end of the season.
"
To put this simple as I can, this is the wrong move for Chelsea.
As mediocre as this season has been, Chelsea only sits three points behind Arsenal for fourth in the EPL. That’s one hot streak of victories away from being a much different table.
With all the money that the football club invested in this man and his young age, this should have signaled that this was a very long-term solution. When hiring a young manager like Villas-Boas, the people calling the shots need to show patience and give him at least a full season to sharpen his teeth.
The worst possible scenario now has to be the probability that Villas-Boas takes his experience from Chelsea to another team in the EPL and makes his old club pay. It has happened in too many sports for this not to become an issue at some point.
Despite Chelsea’s recent lack of success, firing their manager was not the right move. This new-found instability will cause the team to miss out on the Champions League and possibly the Europa as well.
