NBA Trade Deadline: Glaring Weaknesses and Quick Trade Fix for All 30 NBA Teams
The NBA's March 15th trade deadline is fast approaching, and fans have yet to see any major trades come to fruition.
While major trade rumors are out in full force for players like Dwight Howard, Monta Ellis, Pau Gasol and Rajon Rondo, there are a number of smaller-profile trades that could undoubtedly become reality in the next two weeks.
For every NBA team, the trade deadline is the last chance to try to fix any glaring weakness that still exist in their game as they head into the second half of the season, and that's exactly what teams will be trying to do by March 15th this year.
Ahead is one glaring weakness for every NBA team, and a speculated trade that could be a solution to that one thing that's holding every NBA team back.
While the vast percentage of these trades won't happen, it's always fun to speculate. Enjoy.
Every trade has been run through ESPN's Trade Machine to ensure it's validity, with a link to each trade being found in the "chance this trade happens" hyperlink in each slide.
Atlanta Hawks: Inconsistency on Offense
1 of 30Glaring Weakness: Inconsistent offensive production
Quick Trade Fix: SF Marvin Williams and C Zaza Pachulia to New Orleans Hornets for C Emeka Okafor and SF Al-Farouq Aminu
Ever since losing Al Horford, the Atlanta Hawks haven't been the same team on the offensive side of the ball, mainly because they haven't found a legitimate replacement for him. While Pachulia hasn't done a terrible job, he certainly isn't the kind of player who makes a difference offensively.
The Hawks would be smart to try to get a legitimate offensive center to help solidify their offense moving forward in the second half of the 2011-12 NBA season. Trading for Okafur would be a great move for the Hawks, as they would be able to bolster their frontcourt while still maintaining their core talent.
Trading Williams and Pachulia might seem like too much to offer for players like Okafur an Aminu, but there's no doubt that both players' athletic style of play would fit well into the Hawks' offense.
Chance this trade happens: 35.0 percent
Boston Celtics: Aging Talent
2 of 30Glaring Weakness: Age of the Celtics' big three
Quick Trade Fix: SG Ray Allen and 2012 2nd-round draft pick to Atlanta Hawks for SF Marvin Williams, SG Willie Green and Jannero Pargo
Danny Ainge made it clear that he's willing to break up the big three, as long as he gets young talent that he can build around moving forward. Trading Allen might seem like a foolish move to make, but getting talent like Williams and Green in return isn't a bad move to make for an aging Boston team looking to get younger.
While a better trade would involve swapping Kevin Garnett and Josh Smith, that kind of trade isn't exactly feasible for the Atlanta Hawks, who are held back by Joe Johnson's massive contract. For something like that to happen, there would either have to be a third team involved or some serious cash moved to the Hawks for it to work out.
This trade would help the Celtics moving forward, as they would be getting younger and they'd be building for their future, with Green, Pargo and Williams.
Chance this trade happens - 20.0 percent
Charlotte Bobcats: Absolutely Everything
3 of 30Glaring Weakness: Needing more production at every position
Quick Trade Fix: PG D.J. Augustin, SF Corey Maggette and PF D.J. White to Los Angeles Lakers for PF Pau Gasol and SF Devin Ebanks.
I could write a book on the things that the Charlotte Bobcats need to change, from a serious lack of leadership to the fact that they just don't mesh well as a team.
There's a laundry list of needs that the Bobcats have moving forward, and one of those main things is that they don't need both Kemba Walker and Augustin at the point guard position.
The Bobcats would be smart to use Augustin, who has the much bigger contract, as trade bait for the Lakers, who desperately need a solid point guard. The Lakers get what they need in Augustin, in addition to solid talent in Maggette and White, and the Bobcats get a few pieces that they need in franchise player like Gasol.
Chance this trade happens: 25.0 percent
Chicago Bulls: Lack of Offensive Center Production
4 of 30Glaring Weakness: Offensive production at center position
Quick Trade Fix: SF Luol Deng, C Joakim Noah, PG C.J. Watson and 2012 2nd-round draft pick to Magic for C Dwight Howard and SF Hedo Turkoglu
The Chicago Bulls are one of the best and most complete teams in the entire NBA, but the one thing that they've lacked for the past few years and still lack this year is a legitimate offensive-minded center.
While making a move for Magic center Howard would be a tough one to make because it would throw off the Bulls' current productive rotation, it would still be a wise move to make moving forward for the future of the franchise.
With this trade, the Bulls would be getting the center they've lacked for so long, and the Magic would be getting some solid talent in return for Howard. This trade would give the Bulls one of the most dynamic combos in the NBA, with Derrick Rose and Howard.
Chance this trade happens: 25.0 percent
Cleveland Cavaliers: Antwan Jamison's Stranglehold on Power Forward Position
5 of 30Glaring Weakness: Antwan Jamison's age and huge contract
Quick Trade Fix: PF Antwan Jamison, SF Omri Caspi and G Manny Harris to Kings for PF DeMarcus Cousins and SG John Salmons and 2012 second-round draft pick
Jamison hasn't been bad this year for the Cleveland Cavaliers, but he hasn't been anything special either, and if the Cavaliers are focused on their future, they would be smart to deal Jamison's average production and massive contract.
Earlier on in the year, DeMarcus Cousins missed a few games after reportedly demanding a trade, and the Kings would be smart to deal his youth to a team that needs it, especially if they can get a player in return who would bring some leadership to their team.
This trade makes sense for both teams, as it lets the Cavaliers unload Jamison's massive contract, while the Kings get to unload Salmons' contract as well.
Chance this trade happens: 15.0 percent
Dallas Mavericks: Lack of a Talented Small Forward on the Bench
6 of 30Glaring Weakness: No production off the bench at small forward position
Quick Trade Fix: SF Lamar Odom and SG Rodrigue Beaubois to Atlanta Hawks for SF Marvin Williams and SG Jerry Stackhouse
The Lamar Odom experiment hasn't worked out at all for the Dallas Mavericks, as Odom's played more like a legitimate NBA D-League starter than an NBA Sixth Man of the Year.
The Mavericks' weakest position is the small forward position, with only Shawn Marion and Odom on the depth chart. While Marion isn't terrible, Odom is, and that's a major reason why the Mavericks would be wise to go after Atlanta Hawks small froward Williams, who deserves more time on the court.
The Hawks would be getting a solid talent for the future in Beaubois, and who knows? Maybe Odom could revive his career by making the move to Atlanta.
Chance this trade happens: 35.5 percent
Denver Nuggets: Inability to Play Defense
7 of 30Glaring Weakness: Lack of defensive production
Quick Trade Fix: PF Al Harrington, PG Andre Miller, SG Aaron Afflalo to Los Angeles Lakers for PG Steve Blake, PF Pau Gasol and G Andrew Goudelock
The Denver Nuggets are an absolute dichotomy. They are the most productive offensive team in the league, with an average of 103.4 points per game, but they are one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA, allowing an average of 101.2 points per game.
While the Nuggets need to just be more disciplined on the defensive side of the ball, this proposed trade wouldn't be a bad move for the Nuggets to make, considering the future of their franchise.
Adding Gasol would solidify the power forward position, especially defensively speaking, and getting Blake would be a better option than Miller for the years to come. Losing Afflalo would be hard to replace, but Goudelock would be a nice option moving forward.
Chance this trade happens: 10.0 percent
Detroit Pistons: Ben Gordon's Lack of Production & Leadership
8 of 30Glaring Weakness: Ben Gordon not earning the money he gets
Quick Trade Fix: SG Ben Gordon and F Jonas Jerebko to Sacramento Kings for PF DeMarcus Cousins and SG John Salmons
There are undoubtedly a lot of places that the Detroit Pistons need to improve, from their atrocious offensive production to their intensity on the defensive side of the ball. Either way, the Pistons can't move forward as long as they hold on to Gordon's inflated contract.
Gordon, earning $11.6 million a year, is vastly overpaid for the production he brings to the team, and Detroit would be wise to ship him away.
Trading for disgruntled Kings' power forward Cousins would be a smart move, as it would help the Pistons solidify their frontcourt as one of the best and most exciting in the league, with Greg Monroe at the center position.
Chance this trade happens: 20.0 percent
Golden State Warriors: Lack Efficiency on Defensive Side of the Ball
9 of 30Glaring Weakness: Inability to shut down teams defensively
Quick Trade Fix: SG Monta Ellis and F Chris Wright to Philadelphia 76ers for SF Andre Iguodala
Back in the summer, there were rumors circulating that the 76ers were interested in trading for Warriors shooting guard Ellis, and that would be a great move for the Warriors to bring back up.
One of the Warriors biggest issues is their inconsistency on the defensive side of the ball, which is something that small forward Iguodala could undoubtedly bring to Golden State.
Giving up Ellis would be tough for the Warriors to do, as Ellis is a huge piece of their explosive offense, but defense is arguably more important than offensive production, and Iguodala also happens to be a more established leader. All that being said, the 76ers would undoubtedly be interested in bring an Allen Iverson type of player to Philadelphia.
Chance this trade happens: 35.0 percent
Houston Rockets: Production in the Paint from Center Position
10 of 30Glaring Weakness: Offense from the center position
Quick Trade Fix: SG Kevin Martin, C Samuel Dalembert and PG Johnny Flynn to Los Angeles Lakers for PF/C Pau Gasol and G Andrew Goudelock
If the Rockets want to make a serious run in the 2012 NBA playoffs, they have to get more production in the paint from their center position, both offensively and defensively speaking. While Dalembert hasn't done a terrible job this season, he's certainly not the franchise center the Rockets need.
This trade looks somewhat lopsided, with the Rockets having to give up shooting guard Martin, but realistically Courtney Lee and Terrence Williams could make up Martin's production without skipping a beat.
This trade would help the Rockets become more of a contender in a stacked Western Conference than they are now, and the Lakers would be better off by getting another legitimate scoring option in Martin.
Chance this trade happens: 50.0 percent
Indiana Pacers: Another Scoring Option Aside from Hibbert and Granger
11 of 30Glaring Weakness: Legitimate scoring option aside from Hibbert and Granger
Quick Trade Fix: SG Paul George to Memphis Grizzlies for PG Josh Shelby and SG O.J. Mayo
The only reason I'm entertaining the idea of the Pacers trading away George is the fact that Larry Bird's a loose cannon when it comes to holding onto young talent, as evidenced by his recent comments on the Pacers' website.
Trading for Grizzlies shooting guard Mayo would give the Pacers another legitimate scoring threat to insert into their starting lineup. That would take some of the pressure off of Danny Granger and Roy Hibbert when it comes to offensive production.
In all reality, the Pacers would be better off holding onto George, instead focusing on team chemistry as they move forward into the second half of the 2012 NBA season. You never know what Bird has up his sleeve, though, and I'm sure Mayo is a tempting option for him.
Chance this trade happens: 20.0 percent
Los Angeles Clippers: Legitimate Shooting Guard
12 of 30Glaring Weakness: Production from shooting guard position
Quick Trade Fix: G Randy Foye, SF Ryan Gomes, G Eric Bledsoe and 2012 second-round pick to Boston Celtics for SG Ray Allen
The Los Angeles Clippers lost Chauncey Billups for the year to a torn achilles tendon a few weeks ago, and they still haven't found a replacement for the production that he was able to bring to the Clippers.
Mo Williams isn't a terrible option as a shooting guard, but in reality he's a better player coming off the bench and he's more suited to play as a point guard. With that being said, trading the Celtics for shooting guard Allen would be an unbelievable upgrade for the Clippers, and it would make them a favorite in the Western Conference.
The Celtics would get some legitimate talent to build on in Bledsoe and Foye, and that's something that Danny Ainge is undoubtedly interested in.
Chance this trade happens: 40.0 percent
Los Angeles Lakers: Offensively Minded Point Guard
13 of 30Glaring Weakness: Production from the point guard position
Quick Trade Fix: SF Metta World Peace, PG Steve Blake and SG Devin Ebanks to Toronto Raptors for PG Jose Calderon
It's common knowledge that the Los Angeles Lakers need an offensively minded point guard if they are going to make a run in the Western Conference, and Raptors point guard Calderon is just that guy.
While a lot of people think the Lakers need Rajon Rondo, he's not offensively minded enough to fit into the Lakers offense. It would be shocking if the Lakers were able to get Calderon without dealing Pau Gasol, but if they're going to make it happen this is their only option.
This trade scenario is an ideal situation for the Lakers as it gives them the point guard they've been looking for, while also getting rid of Metta World Peace, who's been seriously holding the Lakers back this season.
Chance this trade happens: 45.0 percent
Memphis Grizzlies: Production from the Power Forward Position
14 of 30Glaring Weakness: Not having Zach Randolph's production
Quick Trade Fix: SG O.J. Mayo, C Marreese Speights and F Dante Cunningham to Sacramento Kings for PF DeMarcus Cousins and SG John Salmons.
Randolph still hasn't been cleared for contact, and that's a bad sign for the Memphis Grizzlies moving forward into the second half of the 2011-12 NBA season, as they aren't getting much production out of the power forward position.
While bringing Kevin Garnett to Memphis would be a perfect fit, it's a completely unrealistic option, as the Grizzlies can't absorb Garnett's massive contract. That leaves the Grizzlies best option at the power forward position, Cousins of the Sacramento Kings.
The only way the Kings will give up Cousins is if they can give Salmons away as well, and the Grizzlies would be the perfect team to enable that. This trade would work for both teams, as it would free up some cap space for the Kings, and it would help the Grizzlies buy time until Randolph returns to 100 percent health.
Chance this trade happens: 35.0 percent
Miami Heat: Legitimate Offensive Talent at the Center Position
15 of 30Glaring Weakness: Offensive production from center position
Quick Trade Fix: C Joel Anthony, SG Mike Miller and PG Mario Chalmers to New Orleans Hornets for C Chris Kaman
If there's one thing the Miami Heat need to improve on, aside from LeBron's inability to hit game-winning shots, it's the fact that they get little to no offensive production from the center position. While trading for Kaman would be a nice option, financially its would be nearly impossible to make happen.
The Heat obviously won't trade any of the big three, which leaves them having to trade guys like Miller and Chalmers to free up enough cap space to absorb Kaman's absurdly huge $14.6 million contract.
Moving Chalmers, Miller and Anthony for Kaman is a feasible move, and in all reality it might be a step in the right direction for the Heat, as James Jones could replace Miller's minutes and Norris Cole would fit nicely into the starting lineup.
Chance this trade happens: 30.0 percent
Milwaukee Bucks: Stephen Jackson's Inefficient Offense
16 of 30Glaring Weakness: Stephen Jackson's inefficiency
Quick Trade Fix: SG Stephen Jackson and PG Beno Udrih to the Washington Wizards for SF Rashard Lewis and G Shelvin Mack
In all reality it's going to be nearly impossible for the Bucks to find a team that's interested in taking Jackson and his nearly $10 million contract.
If there's one team that could financially do it, it's the Washington Wizards, as they have arguably the worst contract in the NBA in Lewis' $21.1 million contract. While it seems that the Bucks would be foolish to add Lewis and his contract, he would be a nice upgrade over Carlos Delfino and Tobias Harris.
The Milwaukee Bucks might just need to bite the bullet and cut Jackson, but if they have one shot at unloading him onto another team, it's going to be with the Washington Wizards.
Chance this trade happens: 25.0 percent
Minnesota Timberwolves: Michael Beasley's Inconsistency
17 of 30Glaring Weakness: Michael Beasley's inconsistent offensive and defensive production
Quick Trade Fix: SG Michael Beasley and G Malcolm Lee to Memphis Grizzlies for SG O.J. Mayo
Beasley's inconsistency has undoubtedly held the Timberwolves back at times this season. Whether it's his lack of effort on the defensive side of the ball or his low shooting percentage offensively, the T-Wolves would be wise to move Beasley before the trade deadline.
Making a clean swap of Beasley for Grizzlies guard Mayo could realistically happen, but the deal financially is more feasible by adding a guy low on the depth chart for the Grizzlies like Lee.
Mayo is a better defender than Beasley, and he's a more athletic style of player, which fits better into the Timberwovles system than Beasley presently does. Trading for Mayo would legitimize the Timberwolves as a serious contender in the Western Conference.
Chance this trade happens: 50.0 percent
New Jersey Nets: Dwight Howard Not Being in a Net's Jersey Yet
18 of 30Glaring Weakness: The fact that Dwight Howard is still wearing an Orlando Magic jersey
Quick Trade Fix: SG Anthony Morrow, C Brook Lopez, PF Kris Humphries, C Mehmet Okur and G DeShawn Stevenson to Orlando Magic for C Dwight Howard and SF Hedo Turkoglu
The New Jersey Net's have been playing well as of late, but that doesn't mean their focus isn't on trying to get Howard to put on a No. 12 Nets jersey before the 2011-12 NBA season comes to an end.
While this proposed trade might be too much for the Nets to give up, as it clears out a majority of their roster, it would undoubtedly still be a massive step in the right direction. Landing Howard would help lure Deron Williams into remaining with the Nets at the end of the season, and it would solidify the Nets as a serious contender in the East.
Turkoglu's massive contract will undoubtedly have to go along wherever Howard goes, if he's traded, and the Nets would be able to absorb that contract better than most teams. The Nets need to make this trade happen before the trade deadline.
Chance this trade happens: 49.5 percent
New Orleans Hornets: Fading Talent of Chris Kaman
19 of 30Glaring Weakness: Chris Kaman's lack of high-caliber production
Quick Trade Fix: C Chris Kaman and SG Xavier Henry to the Sacramento Kings for SG John Salmons and PF DeMarcus Cousins
When the Hornets lost Eric Gordon for a majority of the 2011-12 NBA season with a knee injury, the focus of the Hornets' offense shifted to Kaman, and so far he hasn't produced at the level New Orleans needs him to.
There's no doubt that Kaman needs to be moved, but he question is which team is willing to take his $14 million contract? The answer to that question is the Sacramento Kings, who could get veteran leadership in Kaman, and grab an athletic guard/forward in Henry.
The Hornets, in return for Kaman, would give New Orleans exactly what they need in a veteran shooting guard in Salmons and some exciting talent in Cousins. If the Kings are interested in this trade, the Hornets would be foolish to not pull the trigger on it.
Chance this trade happens: 35.5 percent
New York Knicks: Too Many Point Guards
20 of 30Glaring Weakness: Too many point guards that want minutes
Quick Fix Trade: PG Baron Davis to Los Angeles Lakers for SF Devin Ebanks
With the emergence of Jeremy Lin and Iman Shumpert at the point guard position for the New York Knicks, it's clear that Davis doesn't have much of a role in the Knicks rotation.
The Knicks would be wise to see what kind of value Davis has, if any, in the trade market before the trade deadline, as teams like the Los Angeles Lakers are looking to add an offensively minded point guard to their rosters.
Swapping Davis for Ebanks would be a perfect trade for both teams involved, as the Knicks would be able to get a player with high upside that the Lakers don't truly need, and the Lakers would be getting the point guard they've wanted, while not having to give up too much. It certainly will be interesting to see whether the Knicks try to move Davis before the trade deadline.
Chance this trade happens: 30.0 percent
Oklahoma City Thunder: Bench Production from Center Position
21 of 30Glaring Weakness: Bench production from the center position
Quick Trade Fix: C Nazr Mohammed and F Ryan Ried to Houston Rockets for C Jordan Hill
Realistically, the Oklahoma City Thunder don't need to change anything before the NBA trade deadline, but if there was one minor area that they could improve it would have to be at the center position from their second unit.
When Kendrick Perkins goes to the bench, the Thunder lose all sense of production from the center position, and that could change if they could manage to lure the Rockets into a trade involving center Hill. While Hill recently injured his knee in a practice, forcing him to miss nearly two weeks, he's still a more productive center than the Thunder currently have on their bench.
The Rockets would be getting two raw players in Mohammed and Ryan, but they are both players that have an impressive amount of upside that the Rockets could build on moving forward.
Chance this trade happens: 10.0 percent
Orlando Magic: Nothing Luring D12 to Stay in Orlando...Yet
22 of 30Glaring Weakness: No new talent luring Dwight Howard to stay in Orlando
Quick Fix Trade: PG Jameer Nelson, SG J.J. Redick and PF Ryan Anderson and 2012 second-round pick to Golden State Warriors for SG Monta Ellis and PF Ekpe Udoh
The Orlando Magic's best chance of luring Howard into remaining a member of the Magic at the end of the 2011-12 NBA season is if they manage to bring in some serious talent before the trade deadline.
It seems like the Magic's main focus has shifted to trying to get Ellis, and for good reason, as Ellis would be a major upgrade offensively speaking, over any guard that the Warriors currently have on their roster. While giving up Anderson would be hard for the Magic to do, it's an inevitable part of any trade that's going to bring legitimate talent to Orlando.
Bringing Ellis into Orlando would help give Howard more incentive to stay than he has now, and even if Howard leaves at the end of the season, Ellis would still be a nice piece to build around.
Chance this trade happens: 45.0 percent
Philadelphia 76ers: Elton Brand's Massive Contract
23 of 30Glaring Weakness: Elton Brand's age and massive contract
Quick Trade Fix: PG Jrue Holiday, PF Elton Brand and PF LaVoy Allen to the Atlanta Hawks for PF Josh Smith and C Zaza Pachulia
The Philadelphia 76ers started off the season as one of the hottest teams in the NBA, and while they're still a solid team in the Eastern Conference, there's no doubt that they aren't as good as everyone once thought they were. One of the main reasons for that is Brand's low offensive production.
Brand certainly isn't producing at a level that warrants his massive $17 million contract, which is something that's holding back the 76ers as a cohesive unit. Trading for Smith and Pachulia would be a great move for Philadelphia, as it would help their frontcourt that is often times underwhelming, especially without center Spencer Hawes.
Wile 76ers' fans will find it hard to part with Jrue Holiday, in all honesty, it would give Lou Williams more time on the court, which is something that he is surely ready to handle. If the Hawks are interested in adding veteran leadership to their roster, this is a solid move to make.
Chance this trade happens: 15.0 percent
Phoenix Suns: Steve Nash's Upcoming Free Agency
24 of 30Glaring Weakness: Steve Nash's free agency at the end of the season
Quick Trade Fix: PG Steve Nash, SF Josh Childress and PF Markieff Morris to the Los Angeles Lakers for 2012 first-Round draft Pick, PF Pau Gasol and PG Steve Blake.
I hate to say it, but it's time for Phoenix to part ways with Nash. While the Suns have been playing well as of late, there's no doubt that Nash's production is declining because of his age and the lack of solidified talent around him.
One of the Suns' biggest concerns is that Nash will leave Phoenix as a free agent at the end of the season, and they'll not be able to get anything in return for him. The Suns need to take advantage of the Lakers' need for a true point guard, and maximize Nash's value before the trade deadline.
Getting Gasol, Blake and a first-round draft pick in return for Nash, Morris and Childress (who's added to help clear cap space), would be a great way for the Suns to focus on their future, while still maintaining their ability to win games this season.
Chance this trade happens: 60.0 percent
Portland Trailblazers: Lack of a Consistent and in-Shape Point Guard
25 of 30Glaring Weakness: Raymond Felton's inconsistent play
Quick Fix Trade: PG Raymond Felton, SF Gerald Wallace, G Wesley Matthews and 2012 first-round draft pick to Boston Celtics for PG Rajon Rondo and SF Paul Pierce.
Talk about a major upgrade for the Portland Trailblazers. Trading for both Pierce and Rondo would give the Trailblazers exactly what they're looking for, in a replacement for scorer Brandon Roy and a legitimate point guard that they'd get in Rondo.
The Trailblazers have already said they're willing to deal Wallace, which in addition to Felton, Matthews, and another 2012 draft pick, could be an enticing combination for the Celtics, who are undoubtedly looking to get younger and build for the future.
Portland would transition into being a favorite in the Western Conference if they could make this trade happen. While it seems somewhat unrealistic, Danny Ainge has already made it clear that he's willing to break up the big three if he gets the right pieces in return, and this trade scenario might just be the right situation.
Chance this trade happens: 45.0 percent
Sacramento Kings: Lack of Maturity and Discipline
26 of 30Glaring Weakness: Lack of maturity, leadership and discipline
Quick Trade Fix: PF DeMarcus Cousins, SG John Salmons and C Chuck Hayes for PF Elton Brand and G Jodie Meeks
It's hard to see any situation in which the Sacramento Kings can mature overnight, but one possible way is by bringing in a veteran player to try to help discipline and mature the Kings young roster.
That kind of player could undoubtedly be 76ers power forward Brand, who's still a productive member of Philadelphia's offensive rotation. Part of this trade involves moving Cousins, who's arguably one of the biggest reasons for the Kings lack of maturity, as evidenced by his reported trade demands earlier in the season.
This trade wouldn't be a terrible move to make, as Brand could bring a level of experience and maturity that they don't currently have the roster, and Meeks would be a good second option off the bench at the shooting guard position for the Kings.
Chance this trade happens: 25.0 percent
San Antonio Spurs: Injuries to Thiago Splitter and Manu Ginobili
27 of 30Glaring Weakness: Lack of depth on bench without Ginobili and Splitter
Quick Trade Fix: SF Richard Jefferson, SG James Anderson and G Corey Joseph to New Orleans Hornets for C Omeka Okafur and PG Greivis Vasquez
According to Buck Harvey's Twitter account, Spurs shooting guard Anderson is looking to be traded before the trade deadline, and that might not be a bad move to make for the Spurs, who need to increase their bench production while Splitter and Ginobili are still on the bench.
Jefferson hasn't been nearly the player this year that he has in the past, and now would be a good time to see how much value still exists in Jefferson. By packaging a deal for Okafur and Vasquez, the Spurs would be seriously bolstering their bench, which would be a smart move heading into the second half of the 2011-12 NBA season.
Losing Jefferson and Anderson wouldn't be too big of a loss for the Spurs, and for the talent they'd get in return, they would be foolish not to jump at making this move if the New Orleans Hornets are interested.
Chance this trade happens: 25.0 percent
Toronto Raptors: Lack of Chemistry on Offense
28 of 30Glaring Weakness: No Chemistry on the offensive side of the ball
Quick Trade Fix: PG Jose Calderon, SG DeMar Derozan and PF Amir Johnson to Los Angeles Lakers for PG Steve Blake, PF Pau Gasol, G Andrew Goudelock and 2012 second-round draft pick
It's time to blow up the Toronto Raptors depth chart, because it's evident that they have little to no chemistry on the offensive side of the ball, with the 27th-ranked offense in the NBA with an average of only 89.6 points per game.
The Raptors would be wise to make a trade before the trade deadline, because they could maximize their players value due to teams like the Lakers who are in desperate need of an offensively minded point guard.
This proposed trade would work for both teams involved, with the Raptors getting solid talent to build around in Gasol and Goudelock, while the Lakers would get a serious offensive boost in Calderon and Derozan. If the Raptors are serious about the future of their franchise, they'll make a move like this before the trade deadline.
Chance this trade happens: 35.0 percent
Utah Jazz: Devin Harris Not Playing Like Nets Version of Devin Harris
29 of 30Glaring Weakness: Devin Harris forgetting who he was in New Jersey
Quick Trade Fix: PG Devin Harris to Portland Trailblazers for PG Raymond Felton and 2012 second-round draft pick
With the way Harris has been playing this season there aren't going to be too many teams that are legitimately interested in him, but the one team that needs an upgrade at the point guard position and might be willing to deal for Harris is the Portland Trailblazers.
The style of Harris' game fits better in the Trailblazers' half-court style of offense than he does in the Utah's offense, and the Trailblazers undoubtedly see that. While Felton wouldn't necessarily make the Jazz a legitimate Western Conference contender, he'd certainly be an upgrade over Harris' lack of production.
An exchange of Harris and Felton, might just be the new start that both players need to jump start their careers, while still helping their respective teams become playoff contenders in the Western Conference.
Chance this trade happens: 15.0 percent
Washington Wizards: Too Much to List in This Slide
30 of 30Glaring Weakness: Horrible contracts, no offense/defense, no maturity and the list goes on
Quick Trade Fix: PG Shelvin Mack, SF Chris Singleton and PF Andray Blatche to Detroit Pistons for SG Ben Gordon and F Vernon Macklin
Out of all 30 NBA teams, the Washington Wizards are going to have the hardest time trying to make a move before the trade deadline, mainly because they just don't have enough assets to offer teams.
One rumor that's been circulating is the Wizards' interest in trading away power forward Blatche, and if there's one team that knows about spending too much for overrated players it's the Detroit Pistons. The Wizards would benefit in this trade by clearing up some cap space, while getting a talented offensive player in Gordon and a raw talent in rookie Macklin.
The Wizards would be wise to try to move either Rashard Lewis or Blatche before the trade deadline, but it's unlikely to happen because both players have absurd contracts heading into the next year or two.
Chance this trade happens: 5.0 percent
