Carl Froch vs. Lucian Bute Is a Done Deal for IBF Title in Nottingham on May 26

Justin TateJun 7, 2018

Carl Froch and Lucian Bute have finalized a long-discussed clash between one another. Froch (28-2, 20 KO) will get home-field advantage as the fight is set to take place at the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham, England.

Bute (30-0, 24 KO), the IBF super middleweight (168 lbs) world champion, will be putting his world title and undefeated record on the line, yet he isn't afraid of the challenge.

"It's my goal to fight the best boxers in super-middleweight division," Bute said, according to ESPN UK. "Carl Froch belongs in the elite of the super-middleweight division and it will be a great fight. I am very confident and it will not faze me fighting in enemy territory. Supporters of Carl Froch will live their greatest disappointment. The IBF belt will fly roundtrip Montreal-Nottingham and back!"

Froch is equally confident that he will take Bute's belt on May 26.

"It's a dream come true to get this opportunity to become a three-time world champion in my home town of Nottingham," Froch said.

Froch hasn't had the chance to fight in his hometown arena since he defeated Andre Dirrell (20-1, 14 KO) by split decision, giving the American fighter his first loss. Some called it a hometown robbery.

Is Bute destined for the same fate as Dirrell? With a knockout ratio of 80 percent, the highest of any top-rated super middleweight currently fighting, Bute could leave the decision out of the judges' hands.
